Lakme Silk Naturelle Foundation Review

in Face Products, Foundation, Lakme

I am just about done with my second tube of the Lakme Silk Naturelle Daily Foundation, so thought it was about time i gave it a little mention on my blog. This (along with Body shop moisture foundation which i love btw ) has been my go to summer foundation, and iv pretty much been wearing it every single day to work and im sure it feels neglected that i use it so much yet give it so little attention on the blogosphere. So here goes..

What Lakme claims:  “A lightweight foundation that glides on effortlessly like sheer silk. Just the right amount of coverage for everyday use, for skin that looks naturally flawless.”

What I Like about Lakme Silk Naturelle Foundation

  • The Texture: I like my foundations to be thin and moisturizer consistency and that is exactly what this is. It is not thick at all, and when you wear it on your face you kind of forget that you have anything on. It really is more of a tinted moisturizer i feel because its so weightless its a dream to apply
  • The Colour : Im amazed at how Lakme gets colours for indian skin right even with just 3 shades while MAC doesnt always do it with 30! I am a medium shade in this which is “Marble” and the colour matches me to a T. I dont even bother about buffing it out or lines showing because its such a close match. It also has a distinct yellow undertone which works well for my skin.
  • The Coverage: I am a low coverage girl and this gives a sheer to medium coverage which can be built up. So for someone like me, who doesnt want very heavy coverage but just a product that evens out my skin tone, this is the perfect everyday foundation
  • The Finish- I like that it gives a nice subtle healthy glow to the face, it blends seamlessly into your skin and you dont feel cakey or heavy AT ALL. That is why i was more than happy to slather this all over the face in the summer. Its also not drying so brownie points in moisture department.
Love the consistency

What I Dont Like about Lakme Silk Naturelle Foundation
  • Its a classic Lakme problem- the foundations dont last and this one is no different. I work everyday in an airconditioned environment so im good to go with this but for someone who is going to be facing a scorching indian sun, not recommended.
  • Of late, as the weather has gotten cooler my skin is becoming flaky, iv noticed that its not really helping the flakiness.
  • Yhis is the foundation equivalent of lays  chips.. Yknow how Lay’s packet of chips have  air in half of  the bag and chips in the other half. Basically less product? This is it

Will i repurchase Lakme Silk Naturelle Daily Foundation? : Yes, in the summer months when i  want the lightest foundation possible without looking cakey . Its so easy to apply -before office when you have just about 5 minutes to get ready. Not in winter because its not helping flakiness

Final verdict:  3.75/5 If you want sheer to medium coverage, and want a light everyday  foundation you will be happy with this one. Treat it like a tinted moisturizer, and no dont go frolicking around in the sun with this.

Other details:
Price : INR 275/ 5$
Variants: 3 colours all of which are good matches for indian skin tones
SPF: 8 with an invitro study (yeah..right)

hey nice review Mehak…I normally dont like to try out Lakme products these days without reading some positive reviews…Now that I've read ur tghts on this one..I will def like to try it at some point of time…right now my Ponds TM is working v well for me

Product wearoff is a big problem with lakme foundations. I have had this problem with another foundation of their's (they had launched it in the Night collection – forgot it's name). It just melts off in heat, it has very low adherence to the skin, I found that it would even be all over my cell screen after a call. I like their moisturisation and color matches, but they need to work on longitivity..

Nice review :D

Rentu October 27, 2010 at 7:26 am

bhumika October 27, 2010 at 7:52 am

@bhumika & Rentu: I have heard so much about ponds TM. I havent tried it yet. So cant say which is better. BTW, is ponds TM good for winters? I want a nice winter foundation with low coverage

Rentu October 27, 2010 at 8:27 am

well Ponds TM works fine for me…even in this cold weather here at Tallin, but my skin type is extremely oily

i love lakme !! i like their foundations except for the fact that they have weird shades, considering they are an indian company, i think they should have a variety of shades for olive skin..

bhumika October 27, 2010 at 8:37 pm its a tinted shd work fine for winters too…der r no great winters in mumbai though..unlike delhi..

Adorable On Your Vanity October 27, 2010 at 10:54 pm

PnB October 28, 2010 at 4:59 am

@rentu..hmmm i hav dry skin though :(

@Smita: I somehow always find a match for my skin

@Bhumika: Hmm..yup lol bombay has no winters. I want something that will not become dryin winters

@AOYV: LOL…i was really hungry while writing this.

Smita October 29, 2010 at 12:49 pm

PnB – lucky you..! I also get somewhat my shade.. but not EXACT, but i haven't ventured into other brands for foundations so i don't know if a li'l difference is ok or not , is it ?

PnB October 29, 2010 at 10:29 pm

@smitqa- yeah finding a match is the hardest thing…i find thast lakme matches me closest…but even if a foundation doesnt match you, as long as it doesnt make you look artifically like a ghost its okay..there will alwaze be little differences

I have never used a foundation, however I have been looking a lot lately to all the beauty blogs on advice for the same. I am so confused. I have a fair skin, but have a pigmented skin around lips and eyes. I need a foundation or TM that is light and provides some coverage on my combination skin and for Delhi summers. Should I try this? It sounds light and good for summers though, but I am thinking If It doesn't I cannot waste money on trying each and every foundation or TM. Also I want something that requires less application time as I am a college going student (approx 5-10 mins is what I can afford) Please advice.

Hey Megha..yup you can try this one..i really like it..its easy to apply…gives light coverager and perfect for summers….you can also try ponds tinted moisturizer…its very light, its a moisturizer but its tinted so its perfect for summers..that has very low coverage though…but its something that i use everyday…theyr both affordable..around two hundred each..

I feel it money doesn’t work as it claims. Lakme’s skin perfecting liquid foundation gives better coverage and stays last better than this. I won’t recommend.
