Colorbar Radiant Glow Highlighter Pen – Review, Swatches & More

by mehak on February 27, 2011

in colorbar, Highlighters

There are three things im very  choosy about:

  • Boys (Mr.significant other…you can take this as a compliment)
  • Jeans
  • Highlighters

My problem with 90% of highlighters is that they are way too glittery and shimmery, with thick chunks of glitter inside em. And no, i dont like looking like a disco ball. In my opinion, highlighters should be sheeny, not shimmery…they should be glowy but not glittery, and finding that is very very difficult. So it was very uncharacteristic of me when i took a gamble on the Colorbar Pen highlighter. They dont have a tester for this any where in the store, so i just somehow bought it on gut, without even testing it ( a few tweeple had suggested it ..thank you tweeple).

The Colorbar radiant glow highlighter pen is a ‘click it’ highlighter pen which is a gorgeous champagne rose gold color. It is a stunning color for all skintones, has muted golden undertones and looks like pale champagne with hints of peachy sheenyness. The best thing about the Colorbar highlighter- it has no glitter. Zero glitter people- shine, not shimmer!

The highlighter is a liquid cream…with a thin runny consistency. It has a translucent quality about it, and blends into the skin nicely without standing out too much. The pen mechanism  is hugely annoying though, because if you apply the pen directly on your cheeks, chances in it looking streaky are high

I dont know if you can even see it in this snap (Just notice the glow on apples of cheek). Click to enlarge

What i like about the Colorbar Radiant Glow Highlighter Pen

  • An absolutely gorgeous champagne gold color with peachy undertones. Stunning on all skin tones…and unique too!
  • No thick grainy glitter, it only has a shine  not shimmer and gives a luminous bright glow to the face and cheeks without it being obvious.
  • The packaging is so sleek and classy, looks like something of a very high end brand

What i dont like about the Colorbar Radiant Glow Highlighter Pen

  • I dont understand why they decided to put a highlighter in pen form. What did they expect? That we would draw designs on our cheeks with this? I just dont understand it…do i click it and spread it on my hand and then apply? Do i just click it on my cheek- it looks streaky if i do..
  • Also, i dont  trust how long these pen mechanisms work. I always feel like they will get stuck and then you are left with lots of highlighter but no way to get it out….Plus, a lot of times when pushing in the cap of the pen, you press the bottom  button and then the highlighter squeezes out. So annoying!
  • No testers available. I bought it on impulse, but colorbar you really need to get a tester for this..I suspect it would be a much more successful product had it had a tester.

Overall Verdict: 3.75 /5 (I had to dock a lot of marks for the pen thingy, i think its great otherwise)

Price: Rs 425/-
Will i Repurchase: Yes.

Recommendation: One of the best budget highlighters on the market. The color is a stunning champagne gold that will look good on all skintones. I just wish it came out as a regular tube/ pump would be so much more convenient..

@Nivedita: they had a tester at the store i go to, it's not good under the eyes – it settles into the lines & creases like hell. Best left for smoother areas..

@PnB; nice, i love the color too :D

    Hello Mehak,

I have redness on my cheeks I am really fond of blushes and highlighters,

But I had a acne prone skin but now the acne has left my face but I have light redness only on cheeks, What do you recommend?

    mehak August 21, 2012 at 4:11 pm

hi praks..use a concealer to tackle the redness first….as long as yr sure it wont inflame it more….
once its concealed you can think abt other blushes etc

    Praks August 21, 2012 at 4:46 pm

I use concealers so its not visible but I have open pores N use tonner but still partially it tightens, I thought I will try body shop cheek stains but not the rose pink the other shade HUHHHHHHHH bronzer something, I am dying to use highlighters N blushes :) But again sceptical of using it :(
