‘Base’-ically, eyeshadow bases should be like well fit clothes. They should cling on , not wrinkle , enhance colors and stay like that until you take them off. Does the Nyx Eyeshadow Base in skin color do that? Lets see..

Claims “Maximize the intensity, longevity and unashamed brilliance of your eye shadow statements with our eye shadow primer pots. Each of the three NYX Eye Shadow Bases—for vibrant, pearl or neutral tones—creates a smooth canvas for color, increases its durability and prevents fallout.”

Nyx Eyeshadow Base in skincolor is a peachy beige base which is creamy to apply. It has the consistency which is a bit like thick creamy concealers (Think Mac Studio Sculpt), and a small amount is enough to spread on to the lid

What’s nice is that it does make colors pop a LOT ! I can get less pigmented eyeshadows to work on top of this , and i have a MAJOR creasing issue, and this does minimise that. I wont say it doesn’t crease at all,  but its definitely lesser than the kind of old-lady wrinkles i get without this and on that front it kind of holds its own against other high end bases. Also its a nice consistency- creamy to apply but dries down quickly.

What’s not so nice is that i don’t get the kind of wear time i get with say, Mac Paint Pots which literally can make eyeshadows last longer than a 50 over cricket match . This one…well it can get through a T-20 match but not too much beyond that!

See how it makes colors pop?

Overall Verdict:4/5 or A-

Will I repurchase: Yes i may

Price: Rs 500/-

Recommendation: Its a nice budget eyeshadow base. Really depends on what you are looking for. For me, the priorities are making colors pop, as well as minimising creasing and this does exactly that. It doesn’t quite make eyeshadow last very very  long, but eyeshadows tend to do well on me anyway so thats not an issue for me.
