in Skincare

Its a well known fact, that i dont have a cooking gene in my body. Like i said before, i think God forgot to put the cooking gene in me and replaced it with an extra shopping gene! My expertise in the kitchen is limited to Maggi, Coffee and baking cakes (thats what the boy will have to survive on in the future:p) . So whenever i set foot inside the kitchen , people in my house are more or less horrified , wondering what mess they will have to clean up this time! But who says the kitchen is meant only for cooking: If its good for your tummy, its good for your

  • Baking Soda for Acne : Mixing Baking Soda with water, and applying it to affected area has done WONDERS for me and my sister. I dont break out too much, but she does and using this on the breakouts have flattened them and made them dissapear within 2 days!!

  • Tomato for Tan Removal: A couple of years back i went to London on a student exchange programme. People would expect you to come back paler, what with all the wintery London Weather, but i came back 3 tones darker ! I blame it on pacing up and down Oxford Street trying to find something i could afford to buy :p Anyway, i got rid of my horrible tan within 3 days flat- rubbing tomato all over my face. No jokes, you will see the difference instantly!
  • Gram Flour+ Curd+ Lemon Juice+ Termuric for Glow:  There is a reason brides to be are covered in this mixture. Once this thick paste is on you, It really does moisturize your body and  add an instant glow when you scrape it off your skin.
  • Nescafe Coffee Powder+ Sugar+ Sesame Oil Scrub: Sesame Oil is one of the things i swear by. I have the Forest Essentials one that i am applying on my face everyday at night- not only to remove my makeup but as a substitute for night cream. I also use it in a scrub: Mix it with some Sugar and Nescafe Coffee Powder and the result is a pretty awesome home made scrub-i find that it gives the perfect amount of abrasiveness!

Yogurt is also very good for the skin. The gram flour paste is very similar to one used in Indonesia called lulur. It’s great for the skin. They apply the damp paste all over the body and then rub it off to exfoliate. It’s incredibly deep cleaning. One of the many ingredients is turmeric. There is also ‘white’ lulur, which is made without turmeric & used for making the skin more pale. Great traditional stuff.
