When self help books have a bit of personality, i am always interested. And the brand new- Confessions of a Serial Dieter sounds like just the kind of book i might read (Though honestly, dieting is not my cup of tea (or should i say, not my bar of chocolate ;)).
HarperCollins India is proud to announce the publication of Kalli Purie’s book Confessions of a Serial Dieter. Kalli’s personal weightloss memoir on 43 diets and work outs that took her from 100kgs to 60kgs is due for release in Jan 2012 beginning.
From diet experiences to life knowledge, this beautifully written account of weight loss is quite unputdownable. The diets, structured rather like episodes in her life, are replete with characters and anecdotes. And this particular life is one that is far from conservative, whether it comes to diet choices or any other. The frankness and spirit of the writer bursts forth from each page.
Kalli Purie has struggled with her weight since childhood and has finally found a weight she is happy with. Mostly. The diets featured here are structured rather like episodes in her life, full of characters, anecdotes and juicy nuggets of weight wisdom — from surya namaskars set to Bollywood beats to drastic coconut water diets, from a dark experiment with bulimia to a love affair with a self-concocted champagne diet.
In this candid tell-all, Kalli looks at weight-related complexes, myths and dilemmas straight in the eye and tells us not just what to do but how to do it. Kilo by kilo.
The story of weight lost and a life gained, Confessions of a Serial Dieter will make you believe you can do it, whether it’s losing those stubborn last three kilos or chasing your dream!
KALLI PURIE is a self-diagnosed chocoholic and a self-confessed serial dieter. It has taken her years of therapy, diets, workouts, trainers and dieticians to get hold of her life and find her ideal weight. Her two deliciously edible kids are the only treat she is allowed. Though she has achieved many things as an alumni of Modern School, a graduate from Oxford University and a media professional, nothing has brought her more joy than shedding half her weight. She currently lives in New Delhi and is on a new diet.
‘Reading Serial Dieter was like reading my own life story… It takes one dieter to know another. And she is one helluva dieter.’
‘Kalli has demystified the process of living a healthy, fit and fulfilling life…This book will inspire anyone who is in the pursuit of change!’
‘Weight loss is not just about shedding kilos, it’s an emotional journey. Dieticians don’t get that, Serial Dieter does.’
‘Being thin is about so much more than just your weight. For no matter how thin I get, inside I’ll always be a fat girl. Only a fellow dieter can understand that.’
