No, No i am not revising my nursery rhymes. It’s just that  Chanel Illusion D’Ombre  is  like a SOLITAIRE in my makeup collection.Right up there.Incomparable to everything else I have in my stash. So Let me introduce you to my diamond – Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow – Mirifique 85. Quite a mouthful isn’t it??? These long wear eyeshadow were first launched in the Chanel Fall Collection 2011. At that they were limited edition but I’m told they have now been made a part of permanent collection. they come in 6 different shades. So lets see what Chanel has to say about these  :Read here
My take on Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow – Mirifique 85.

Mirifique 85 is a jet black gel based eyeshadow with a lot of glitters and sparklers. It’s really shimmery at the first glance and the shimmers are multi coloured but somehow the silver sparklers dominate the entire colour. The eyeshadow can be used both as a liner and shadow and is a dream to apply. On the upper lash line when applied it looks like a line of small pretty swarovski crystals adorning the eyes. It gives an instant oomph look to the eye. As an eyeshadow its an excellent product for an amazing smoky eyes. Just put this on the entire lid, blend it out and you are set for a whole night of partying. I personally like to pair this with nude lips for the classic smokey eye- nude lip combination.

The texture of the Chanel Illusion D’ombre eyeshadow is like a thick gel.Its soft, mousse like and creamy. In short, it’s a cream eyeshadow/mousse eye shadow. Its soft and spongy, springy in nature and not at all gritty in spite of it being packed with glitters. It has no fall out, it does not smudge, nor crease, nor fade. I have used this without priming my lids and it has stayed put on my lids for more than 8 hours without budging.  The eyeshadow is really opaque, intense and pigmented which can be kept sheer but it does not look that great when used that way. The colour is buildable and if you want to create an even  more dramatic look, just pat this on top of another shadow.

The shadow comes in a sturdy glass pot with a screwed on black cap which has the characteristic Chanel emblem – the  two intertwined Cs. . It comes with a nice angled brush with soft tightly packed bristles, which can be made longer by attaching the cap to the brush. It’s quite a useful one when compared to brushes generally given with other products.

Now comes the tricky part – the application. The brush given  with the Chanel Illusion D’ombre eyeshadow  is useful for lining the lash lines only. I have used this brush for lining as well as patting the eyeshadow on the lid and then blending it with my fingers. Eyeshadow brushes wont pick much of this because of its texture and it will look patchy when used with fluffy brushes- so its best blended with fingers.

Overall Verdict :A+

Price : 165 Dhirams (I picked this from Dubai) approx 2500 INR for 4 gms

Overall Recommendation :Chanel Illusion D’ombre Eyeshadow in Mirifique is stunning cream eyeshadow – a perfect product for those perfect smoky eyes. Though its slightly heavy on the pocket i would still recommend this to everyone because all we girls love smoky eyes and nothing comes close to this to get those smouldering eyes. I have not seen anything like theses in mac or any other high price brand in India at least, so for me its a first and i would definitely be going back for more. Go for it girls….its beautiful….period!!!!

its way too expensive…I found the shiseido one cheaper and gliding better and also was more intense than this.Anyways the eyeshadow was a limited edition and no longer sold in chanel india

Wow it really does look very striking- I’m not sure everyone can wear that sort of jet black though; I’d end up looking like a panda haha
