Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo Review

 Guest Review by Sangeeta

“One quarter moisturizing milk ” – the minute you hear that , you know its a Dove advert with the signature punch line , and even though some of their products don’t always live up to its moisturizing claim I have to admit the line is good. Hats off to the copywriter

I didn’t have any high hopes for this product when I tried it. My hair reacted very badly to their breakage therapy shampoo, it made my hair soft and silky but it caused hair fall; against its claim to reduce breakage. Needless to say when I used their new nourishing oil shampoo I didn’t experience much. It easily removed oil from the hair. The product claims to have the goodness of nourishing oils which makes hair soft and silky, but to the contrary it made my hair and scalp dry. I can never skip conditioner whenever I use this shampoo, even on a lazy day. Once I ended up using too much of the product and ended up with a flaky scalp. The packaging is very sturdy as always. The shampoo has mild shimmer particles though not sure why it’s there. It smells nice and lathers well. But it also contains silicones and SLS, and I prefer using my TBS Rainforest Shampoo to this. I’ve had a love hate relationship with Dove and my experience this time had more cons than pros and I wouldn’t pick up this product again.

What I Like

  • Removes oil easily
  • Easily available
  • Attractive pricing
  • Sturdy packaging

What I don’t really like

  • Contains SLS and silicones
  • It didn’t live up to its claims at least for me
  • Dried my hair and my scalp
  • My hair didn’t feel nourished after using this

Overall Verdict:  B

Price: Rs. 123/- for 200 ml

Recommendation: Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo works for a lot of people I know,  and it might just work for you, but for me this one dried my hair and didnt make it feel nourished by its claims. I suggest trying a smaller pack before buying the big bottle.
