I’m not really an eye makeup person , Infact I hardly ever apply eye make-up. First reason is because I‘m not so fond of playing with my eyes and second reason is therefore I never really learnt about it other than the basics. But now with so many easy smokey eye tutorials, I too wanted to try one and therefore got the Nyx Smokeye Eye Palette. I’m strictly against bright colors on my eyes so therefore chose these dark colors in combination with highlighted colors given in this palette.
The colors in the Nyx Smokey Eye Palette are beautiful as you can see and just what I wanted- perfect to create that sultry, smokey eye on a budget. The colors range from pure matte black to metallic grays, from a brownish black to light colors for highlighting. They are all very nicely pigmented with solid color payoff and though there’s a some fall out but nothing like you can’t take care off. I make sure to tap my brush everytime before I apply these eyeshadows on my eyes. The textures are nice and soft, though they may not imitate the buttery-ness of higher end brands. At first glance, you may find 3-4 colors in the palette to be similar but they are slightly different from each other once applied on the eyes. I do have one slight problem which is that the lighter colors of the pallette are slightly harder to blend, but apart from that i think this palette is quite a steal. I make sure that I apply my base and primer everytime I am wearing these eyeshadows. This way they also last for 6-7 hours easily. I haven’t worn them for more than this time.
The packaging is quite sturdy. The sponge tip applicator is of no use to me since I use my eye brushes for applications. I also tried these on my waterline and i didnt have any problems on that front either
Overall Verdict :A-
Price: Depends on where you get it from. From Cherry Culture you would pay 9$ , from indian websites like Urban Touch its much more expensive!
Recommendation: For the price of this palette, this Nyx Smokey eye palette is a steal! If you want a range of dark colors to create gorgeous sultry smokeye eyes from blacks to metallic grays to browns, then this Palette definitely wont dissapoint. It is nicely pigmented and the colors work well together, though not all of them mimic the blendability and buttery-ness of high end brands. I would definitely suggest you get your hands on this one though!
