Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012 Photos

Day 3 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 saw some heavyweights like Bollywood’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra, along with Tarun Tahiliani (Tarun actually showed on Day 2 at Blue Frog but the pictures are being released just now so im clubbing this under day 3)Apart from the biggies, there was Kallol Datta, Abraham & THakore and Pankaj & Nidhi to liven up the fashion week too! Lets start the photos with Manish Malhotra’s fashion show first shall we?

Manish Malhotra at  Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012

Manish Malhotra’s show at Day 3 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 was about Kashmiri Crafts, Zari Work and threadwork on his favourite silhouettes-long anarkali suits, long jackets with skirts underneath. I know Manish Malhotra gets some criticism from the fahsion frat about showing too much of the same style, but honestly, i would wear his indian silhouettes in a heartbeat.  The colors ranged from all white with a splash of rani pink , to bright pinks ,oranges and mint greens and some splashes of metallics in subtle forms like saree blouses! There was a bit of a pastels feel to it, but bright upbeat pastels There was also lace and a bit of chikan-kari on those pallazo pants which brought that kashmiri feel to the collection ! Brides- to -be , this was the collection to look at if you want an outfit for a lesser heavy function- Mehendi maybe?

Tarun Tahiliani at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012

Tarun Tahiliani’s collection was inspired from the ottoman empire and drew from their fabrics and textures, combined with Tarun’s signature draping style to create indian and western silhouettes . The color palette was  dark- ranging from a deep eggplant purple to charcoal greys and black. There were tons of concept sarees, gown-style anarkalis and more. Which was your favourite piece from this?

Pankaj & Nidhi at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012

Day 3 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 also saw the fun, young style of Pankaj & Nidhi. I loved all the dresses they showcased- and it was really interesting to see traditional indian work like weaves, and ikat prints along with kashmiri threadwork being used on dresses in really bright, almost fluorescent colors. The collection on its own was one big splash of color- varying hues of blue with reds, pinks and yellow embroideries over it. The silhouettes were structured and fitted with high necklines. These were dresses that were quirky, yet so fun and wearable.  Pankaj & Nidhi are quite a celebrity favourite when it comes to dresses and it will be interesting to see which big name picks up these fun pieces.Love !

Kallol Datta at WLIFW 2012 Day 3

After the splash of color at Day 3, Kallol Datta showed an almost all black collection. There were some pieces with red thrown in but most of it was slate greys and charcoal blacks. Not my favourite collection by a mile honestly.

What was your favourite piece from day 3? Mine was the entire collection by Manish Malhotra (always love Manish Lehengas) and Pankaj & Nidhi Dresses!
