Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012 Photos
Day 2 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 saw Rohit Bal showcase an all white range, along with some interesting shows i loved such as Gaurav Jai Gupta (not to be confused with Gaurav Gupta who also showcased), Nachiket Barve and the talented Kavita Bhartia. Tarun Tahiliani was another heavyweight in the mix, but those photos shall only be put up tommorow. For now, lets enjoy Kavita Bhartia, Gaurav Jai Gupta and Rohit Bal!
Kavita Bhartia at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012
Kavita Bhartia is a designer whose clothes i always enjoy seeing, even though she usually does have a fairly similar fashion theme in most shows. I think a lot of what she does is immensely wearable! At WLIFW 2012 Autumn Winter, she showcased a lot of printed jackets (i spotted a lot of damask being used in a few clothes), layered over metallic skirts. Tie & Dye definitely seems to be making a come back, with a lot of gradiant pieces on the runway. The pallette was muted and earthy- using teal blues with earthy browns and subtle olive greens. My favourite pieces were definitely the flowing jackets- i would love to have one of those in my closet. Metallic still reigned strong at Day 2, with a few pieces of bling here and there- like that gold jumpsuit! Her collection was inspired by the earth and sustainability, and it stayed true to that!
Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012
Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta- I loved browsing the photos on this one!! I absolutely love that gold dress (2nd row , pic on the right). I would wear that in a heartbeat. The collection consisted of mostly dresses- structured and fitted, with some bandage-dress esque pieces, along with short jackets. Another interesting aspect – some of the draping like the interesting collar in the picture above was really nice to see. This is kind of what i love about India Fashion Week- discovering designers i might not have heard of earlier. The collection has an almost androgenous feel to it-but a bit rocker chick as well, complete with metallic studs and rivets . The color palette was very neutral- grey, black, beige with splashes of metallics and some colors like reds. I didnt attend this show , but i loved browsing the photos.
Rohit Bal at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012
These are actually the only pictures i have of Rohit Bals show and it seemed like a pretty haunting affair at Day 2 of fashion week. The collection was all white from what it seems like, flowy, billowy white maxi dresses. If the entire show was only these dresses, i can imagine it getting a bit monotonous but since i wasnt there i shall not comment!
Nachiket Barve at WLIFW 2012 Day 2
There was yet more tie and die at Day 2 of India Fashion Week 2012 at Nachiket Barve, which was bit of a respite from all those neutrals with a bright color pallette of orange, red, green and tuquoise. I really like how he put the colors together, and the collection has a very resort-ish feel to it.
Gaurav Gupta at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012
Gaurav Gupta’s collection on Day 2 of WLIFW 2012 was inspired by a bionic women. It was about power, and eagerness and this was shown through exaggerated padded shoulder, sky high heels , super vampy lips , jackets morphing into dresses and more. The pictures almost have this “Evil” vibe to it!
What was your favourite piece from day 2? Mine was the gold dress from Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta and the Kavita Bhartia jacket+ skirt.
