Have you ever bought a lipstick or anything else for that matter because the entire human race was raving about it and when you tried it on in the store it felt awesome but then as soon as you got it home you realised that it wasn’t quite working for you?Well one such lipstick for me was, Maybelline’s My Mahogany. I know! I know! Shocking! Because the number of reviews I’ve read about it and how it’s always MIA from the Maybelline counters pretty much proves that it works for EVERYONE but me. BUT that’s an old story now because I have my Nyx lip pencil in Natural and my My Mahogany has been behaving rather well with it! It works on me too now! Yay. Oh these sweet little moments of joy! :D
Nyx says: Slim, trim but never prim, our lip pencils come in 60 dashing shades—from auburn to orange and traffic-stopping red. The buttery, long-wearing lip liner formula goes on easily and resists bleeding. Available in 60 shades
Nyx Natural Lip Pencil is a very pretty rosy brownish pink in colour. It’s very close to what you can call a caramel shade. It will suit most of us pretty well and because it does contain a lot of pink undertones in it, it will suit the pale ones too. For those who own My Mahogany, Natural is the shade you’d get after say two swipes of my Mahogany. You can see in the swatch how similar both the shades are, the formula differs but the color is pretty much the same. I love the fact that both of them go so well together :D It’s a very wearable shade and something that you can just put on for basically any occasion. It pairs brilliantly with nude lipsticks and with pinks and actually with just about anything. It neutralizes my dual toned-brown/pink lips and helps whatever lipstick I put next to show up so much better. It really is a perfect base for all my lipsticks. Just like Bonnie is to Clyde, Butch Cassidy is to Sundance Kid..for me this Nyx lip pencil in Natural is to My Mahogany – Awesome partners in crime :D
Thoughts on the Quality:
NYX Lip Pencils are remarkably pigmented lip pencils to either enhance or neutralize your lips. These are exceptionally creamy and glide on easily but I guess some are less creamy than others and some are more. This one particularly glides like a dream on my hand when I swatch it but on my lips, it’s just a tiny bit less creamy than the one I have in bright-neonish pink called, ‘Pinky’. They also wear pretty well alone, but since most of them are matte and no magic lip liners, it’s better to keep a balm or a moisturizing lipstick handy. They will accentuate the fine lines on the lips just a little bit, so if your lips are exceptionally dry someday I’d suggest you not to wear them alone that particular day. They last fairly long on my lips and they don’t finish up fast either considering they are so long, they have 2g of product in them. Since they are longer than an average eye or lip pencils and they might not fit snugly in your makeup bag, mine always has its head sticking out like a little watch guard! They are slim, trim and long and sharpen well with any regular sharpener.
Overall Verdict: A
Price: $3.50 on Nyx website
Will I repurchase: Definitely! This goes so well with all my lipsticks.
Recommendation: Nyx Natural Lip Pencil is highly recommended from my side ! The perfect rosy brown which really is very natural looking on the lips. Whether you are on a budget or not, these lip pencils are one of the best out there. Natural is a very versatile shade that you can use on an everyday basis. (Editors Note: I totally agree with Kritika- Nyx Lip Pencils are some of the most value for money pencils in the market. I can safely say they are justt as good as the Mac Lip Pencils)
