The Body Shop Deep Cleansing Sea Weed Face Wash

Guest Review by Sangeeta

Despite living in a coastal region the only place I have seen seaweed is in Scooby Doo. Though those were seaweed monsters and looked yuck, the Body Shop seaweed range has elegant white-blue packaged range meant for oily to combination skin to help remove excess oil without being over drying.

According to the Body Shop’s website their Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash is “A mild oil-free and soap-free foaming cleansing gel. Effectively deep cleanses to clear open pores and rinse away excess oils, make-up, impurities and daily grime. Leaves the skin feeling cleansed, purified and refreshed with a shine-free, matte finish. Our Community Trade Bladderwrack seaweed has a very high mineral content, skin protective antioxidants and nourishing vitamins to balance skin tone, purify and clarify the complexion. Menthol to cool and refresh – ideal for oily or irritated skin.”

The body shop’s seaweed range is meant for combination to oily skin and suits sensitive skin well. The face wash is gel based and is quite runny in consistency. The smell is rather funny, I don’t know how else to describe it, but not too strong to put you off. The presence of menthol can be felt while using the face wash and it feels quite refreshing. This is the most gentle face wash I have used till date. I was suffering from very bad cold which caused my nose to turn red, sore and dry because of the constant appearance of the giant hanky. I wasn’t able to use any face wash around the nose as everything made it burn. TBS seaweed face wash came as a godsend as it helped clean without any burning sensation. I have used Cetaphil face wash meant for sensitive skin, but the cleansing power of TBS Seaweed face wash is way better. The face wash removes oil easily without being over drying at the same time and makes my skin soft. While the pros are large there are a few cons. It is expensive for the quantity and the runny consistency means it won’t last long. Apart from this I love this face wash and if my face is ever a disaster zone this will be the face wash I would be reaching for.

What I Like

  • Removes oil from the face without over drying it
  • It is very gentle
  • Makes my skin soft
  • Lathers well and rinses off easily
  • Packaging is easy to use
  • Removes makeup though not completely  but to a certain level

What I don’t really like

  • Consistency is runny so won’t last long
  • Has a weird smell
  • Pricey

Do give it a try. But I always suggest getting samples from them and trying before purchasing the full product.

Ha! I went to the store and got confused if I should get this one or the Tea tree one and got back with that one!
Next time I would pick this up for sure!

I have both. If you have oily skin Tea Tree face wash will be good for summer. It strips oil off the face. Nothing else. But if your face is oily and extremely sensitive Seaweed is the one to reach for.
