Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick

Guest Review Written by Sristi

Orange  is the color of the season.  It’s literally everywhere – infact its one of MAC’s 4 Trends for Spring Summer too! So when it came to make up, I thought why not invest in an orange lip color?? Initially, I was quite apprehensive to buy a pure orange lip color because obviously it’s a very tough color to pull off. But after a lot of research and checking out a number of brands, I decided to take the plunge and bought this lovely orange lipstick from Chambor’s Powder Matte Lipsticks range. It’s called  Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in Orange Falmbe .

This is what Chambor says about the Powder Matte Lipstick range: –  An Innovative Formulated Lipstick which has both Moisturizer + Matte Effect in it. Powder Matte Lipsticks have a Non-Drying Triple Action Formula which:

  • Hydrates – Vitamin A & Jojoba Oil
  • Protects from the sun – UVA & UVB Filters (SPF – 15)
  • Has anti-ageing formula which softens & soothes the lips – Vitamin E

So, Chambor Orange Falmbe is a pure orange shade which is absolutely gorgeous! Generally people would be apprehensive to purchase an orange lipstick, but this is not a crazy over the top, oompa loompa orange. Neither it is a muted orange, but its a nice , warm bright orange shade which instantly brightens up the face. Since it is an attention grabbing color, I would suggest keeping the other make up to a bare minimum so that it doesn’t end up looking too garish. In terms of which skin tones this would flatter- mostly all warm skin tones (specially fair to medium) , as orange does not always look the best on cool skin tones.

Chambor Orange Falmbe comes in a sturdy, deep blue packaging with a bullet shaped packaging. The pigmentation is very good – with 2 swipes, you get full, opaque coverage. What I love about this lipstick is that its finish is matte -I absolutely love matte finishes, there is something uber classy about them, and specially in brighter colors i feel matte is the way to go !The reason i feel that this is one of the best matte finish lipsticks out there, is because if though its matte finish, it does not dry my lips at all.Since its quite moisturizing, you can even give the lip balm  underneath a miss.

The staying power is also top-notch. The lipstick shows very little fading even after a meal. It stays put for a good 4-5 hours after which it starts to fade evenly, leaving behind a faint, lovely orange stain.

So now for the pros and cons –

  • Very good pigmentation. Full coverage in 1-2 swipes.
  • Matte finish.
  • Sturdy, hassle free packaging
  • Pleasing smell, not overpowering.
  • Does not dehydrate the lips. Quite moisturizing
  • Excellent staying power. Water resistant too.
  • Does not settle on fine lines.
  • Claims to have SPF 15.

  • No indication of color on the outside. So if you have multiple Chambor Powder Matte Lipsticks, you will have to squint to reach each name

Overall Verdict: A

Price – Rs. 450/-. But I got it at a discount at Rs. 382/- from the online store

Will i Repurchase– This one is going to last me for quite a while. But I am definitely going to check out the other shades in this range. I have heard it’s got some very pretty pinks.

Recommendation –The Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in Orange Flambe is a lovely warm , bright orange  lipstick.  It’s the perfect color for spring/summer since The orange itself is not very OTT. If you love matte lipsticks, you must give Chambor Powder Matte a try, they are some of the best non drying ones out there!

I’m quite “conservative” with my lipstick shades. So I don’t know where I’d wear this but I so want too!!

sristi April 4, 2012 at 4:52 pm

You can wear it as a tint na? That way it won’t look too bright!

Kannu April 3, 2012 at 7:39 pm

It looks like such a pretty colour! I can never pull off warm oranges , pinks yes, but oranges never. ;A;
It looks great on you though! :)

sristi April 4, 2012 at 6:01 pm

Thanks Nisha! You could try the Maybelline Mandarin Lip Balm first.. that would be a safe bet, as far as orange is concerned!

Sangeeta April 4, 2012 at 8:00 am

sristi April 4, 2012 at 6:02 pm

Shilpa March 28, 2013 at 9:12 pm

They discontinued this shade..Please let me know if its available online on any site..Thanks

Sucharita May 2, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Please suggest if it can go for olive skin tone, like NC 43.5. Packaging is at times really a dud for Chambor lipsticks! otherwise they are excellent!
