Mac Prep and Prime Vibrancy Under Eye Primer

Guest Review by Dhara (Medium Skin tone (NC41) and Combination Skin)

We all know of primer products for the face and eye lids but how about a primer for  under  the eye as well ? I’d say that sounds  excellent !! The MAC Prep+Prime Vibrancy Eye primer is a deadly combo of make-up + repair. It came with the Primed for Perfection collection so it’s a limited edition product-but it’s been introduced as part of the permanent range as well…

The Mac Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye Primer  is a light weighted, peachy white lotion with super micro shimmer flecks. The primer has optical diffusers which go against the rays of light and minimize the appearance of under eye dark circles. MAC says it gives instant radiance which is absolutely true. It also claims to repair the under eye capillaries with regular use.

While I was on a search for a better eye cream then the one I am using currently, I was suggested that I use this fighter twice a day regularly for my dark circles and skip eye cream altogether. Though I used it only when I have to use the concealer, i could see that it made concealer blending a breeze when applied under the concealer and definitely brightened  the under eye area. This  gets absorbed in the skin within minutes of application and makes blending of concealer much smoother and  easier. It also makes the concealer stay for a longer while and  makes the eyes shine and look fresh. It’s almost like an instant wake-up call for the eyes- fresher, brighter, lighter. It doesn’t feel heavy at all as its quick absorbing and light weight. If you do still want to use an eye cream, then I advise that  you wait out till the eye cream is absorbed before applying the primer.

The shiny black bottle of the primer comes with a pump dispenser which actually pumps out the product  more than is required which is a bit of a waste of a pretty expensive product.  But  with more controlled motion and practice you can manage to pump out just a little product :p The bottle holds 15 ml of primer but since its to be used only on the under eye area, it should last for quite some time. As for all MAC products, the only flip side of this product is the price, given how much the product is wasted at times due to getting pumped more than required. It would have been better if it came in a tube or a pot.

Editors Note: If you are a concealer newbie,  an another under eye product confuses you then you might want to first check out : How to apply concealer to under eye circles

Verdict: A+

Price: Rs 1600/-

Recommendation :The Mac Prep and Prime Vibrancy Under eye primer  gives instant radiance to the eyes and also has capillary repairing properties when used regularly. It Makes concealer blending a dream , makes it stay much  longer and makes my eyes look fresh and awake. Definitely an instant pick up for the eyes! !

Dear Mahek,
For the past one month, I am following your blog silently. Now I am hooked on to it. Everyday I make it a point to see this one to brighten up another boring day in office. Also your blog is one window that is open most of the time apart from the various news sites that I have to keep scanning ( hope no body from my office is a member yet :P)
Now a question. Is using primer everyday not good for skin? I have made quite an investment on Mac prep and prime range ( i have the face primer with spf 45 and the under eye one as well). Now one MUA at Colorbar store told me using primer regularly will give u wrinkles early. I have oily skin which is pimple prone especially during five specific days in a month. I am happy with the way the primers are working. Now shall i stop using them everyday? What do you suggest?

Dear Priyanka,
Thanks about my blog :)
It totally depends on what your primer contains. I would not recommend you use silicon based primers too freqeuently.
Those should be kept for special occasions.

Also- primers generally should be used under foundation- for even smooth complexions, and for better application so i personally wouldnt apply them everyday anyway. I dont know about the wrinkles, but they might block pores and stuff…

Thanks Mahek. Will follow your suggestion. Let me tell you that you are doing an wonderful job with this blog :) Congratulations
