Best things come with a swirl. Cinnamon or chocobon rolls from Cinnabo, McSwirl ice cream, Cinnamon and raisin swirl bread, swirled cupcakes, Nutella swirl cheesecake (Editors Note: 100% couldnt agree more Kritika- like Cinnabon says life needs frosting, i say life needs swirls). I need to stop. I’m drooling all over my keyboard. But you get the point right? Best things come in a swirl ! So when Maybelline launched swirl gel liners, I knew I had to get it.
Maybelline says: Creamy gel type allows to draw a smooth clean line without crease. By mixing the two shades, you will have a classy subtle shine. By using separately you will get intense powerful line or a dramatic shine
I got the one in Brown+Gold. They have another in Black+Silver. That swirl ! OMG. I love that little swirl in that little tub of gel liner. It’s just so pretty. I’m sorry I couldn’t click a picture; I just couldn’t stop the urge of digging in with my liner brush. It was just so inviting!! The little pot looks like a tub of dark chocolate with gold swirls in it. The brown is deep, dark and intensely pigmented. You definitely don’t need more than a swipe with this one. It definitely shows up on my eyelids. Even though the gold swirl looks absolutely tempting, it’s not as awesome as the brown. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty and not at all OTT but it’s just not pigmented enough. I wish one could wear it by itself, but I think it just wouldn’t show up alone. It definitely is a nice addition because when you are not in a mood to wear just the matte liner, you have this to make it all sparkly and pretty.
The formula is pretty much the same as the old Maybelline Lasting Drama gel liner. I din’t notice any difference here. Its waterproof, smudgeproof, long lasting – it stays on for good 10 – 12 hours on me. The liner also comes with a flat, tapered brush that performs surprisingly well and draws thick and thin lines with ease. I really wish we could get more combination of colours in these. Imagine a steel grey with turquoise blue, a taupe with indigo, a deep purple with copper. Sigh. Dream a little dream.
(Editors Note: The previous Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner (the solid black one) made my eyes REALLY red and itchy if i applied it on the waterline. Even though Kritika mentions that this doesnt sting on the waterline, those with sensitive eyes, do try it before hand in the store on your waterline. If the ingredient list is the same as the earlier one, it might itch .)
Overall Verdict: A
Price: Rs.425 for 3g of Qty
Recommendation: If you loved the Maybelline Gel Liner in Black you will love this because its essentially the same formula. Get this particular one if you want a great brown liner with some spunk to it, I wouldn’t suggest you to put high hopes on the gold colour alone though because thats not pigmented enough to be worn alone.
