Body Shop Chocomania Lip Butter

Guest Review by Sangeeta (Medium Skin Tone, Oily & Sensitive Skin)

Cold Mocha shake topped with vanilla icecream, yummy isn’t it. I love mocha shakes especially those at Gloria Jeans, I can drink this all day long and eat nothing else. Those of you who do not know about Gloria Jeans (It has nothing to do with jeans btw) is an Australian based coffee company with a few outlets in India of which 2 are in Chennai. So if you are living in a city with a Gloria Jeans head out there and try their cold shakes and head right round to The Body Shop and pick up their Chocomania Lip Butter.

The Body Shop Chocomania Lip Butter claims to “This buttery balm melts onto the lips for instant hydration. It contains real cocoa butter and has a delicious chocolate flavor.

  • Instant hydration
  • Buttery texture
  • Leaves lips feeling softer and smoother
  • Chocolate flavor.”

This was love at first smell for me. I know it sounds strange to say love at first smell, but I loved this lip butter from the moment I took my first whiff of its sweet chocolaty fragrance. The Chocomania Lip Butter is from The Body Shop’s newest range “Chocomania”. The range also includes: Chocomania Body Butter, Chocomania Body Lotion, Chocamania Shower Cream, Chocomania Body Scrub, Chocomania Heart shaped Soap and Chocomania Bag of Hearts.

The texture of the lip butter is smooth and a very small amount is enough every time. This is not a lip balm that needs to be layered. It works well underneath lipstick and also over lipstick. The light creamish colour tends to make bright lipsticks a bit toned down. Like most lip balms they don’t last forever and it disappears all the while leaving the lips soft. This is an amazing over night treatment for the lips. If you are expecting it to taste like chocolate you might be disappointed a bit. I’m glad it doesn’t taste like chocolate; if it did it wouldn’t last even a minute on my lips. As I’m writing this review I have swatched a tiny bit of the lip butter on my hand and smelling it, that’s how addictive this lip balm is.

What I Like

  • Smells divine
  • Has good moisturizing power
  • Makes lips soft and supple – a very good over night treatment for the lips
  • Can be used below lipsticks / lipgloss
  • Can be used on top of bright lip colour to tone down the brightness.

What I don’t really like

  • You need to dip your fingers in to remove the lip butter
  • The price is high for a lip butter

Overall Verdict:  A

Price: Rs. 295/- for 10 ml

Recommendation: Whether or not you are a lip balm addict, the Body Shop Chocomania Lip Butter is definitely one that needs to go into your posts. This one smells divine and moisturizes lips keeping them soft an supple !! Mmm..yum!

Sangeeta April 13, 2012 at 10:00 pm

I think they are tiny bars of soap. They are heart shaped.

I wish they start introducing their new lines with lip balms on a stick form rather then the hand dipping part. Looks like hard work to me to do the whole process of applying it lol. But TBS makes the best lip balms, that’s for sure!

This really does smell yummy. The only drawback for me is, it makes me crave chocolate the entire day :)
