Colorbar Hollywood Lights Lip Gloss in Call my Agent

Guest Review written by CSP Ballal (Light Skin tone, Normal to Dry SKin)

Colorbar USA claims : “This new lip gloss range reflects the glitz, glamour and all things that make Hollywood. Its syrupy gloss gives a transparent, wet shine in illuminating shades. The gloss comes in with a built in battery, built in mirror and a light up brush. This dazzling product is specially designed for today`s busy women, to keep their lips looking beautiful and moisturized all day and night long. The Hollywood Lights lip glosses are prepared with an advanced formulation that offers smooth and creamy texture for lips to give that spectacular shine and luscious pout. The product delivers the femininity appeal, style and panache of an actress, model and diva of today”

My take on Colorbar Hollywood Lights lip gloss:

My first question- why Colorbar USA!? I believe the brand has its origin in India.  Then i wonder why it didnt choose Colorbar India and chose Colorbar USA instead?? Ok. Forget that . Some things are blindly decided and accepted. Hollywood Lights lip gloss range has 7 shades, all very bright and lively colors made perfect for Indian skin tones (Ok! at least the shades are suitable for Indians!)

The gloss comes in a usual sleek lip gloss tube with a applicator. The applicator has a brush which is pretty flexible and glides the gloss very nicely. The consistency of the gloss is a little thick than the usual glosses i have tried- i dont know why but  I find my lips heavy with this glos on tops. The color is pigmented and gives an even coat of color to the lips. The staying power of the gloss is good too, say about 4 hours.

Call my agent is a great natural looking shade with shimmer- kind of like beigey rust shade with shimmer that is extremely flattering on indian skintones- light to dark. The shade gives a wet soft look to the lips, and envelopes them in a beautiful sheen. However, the shimmers are not easily removable and they remain slightly stubbornly stuck to your lips even as this gets wiped off.

The major feature of this gloss is Lights and the package has a mirror. The cap light is turned on when twisted open. The SA claimed that Light and Mirror helps in applying the gloss in darkness. But I have not found this Light and mirror of any use honestly- its more of a marketing gimmick because neither the mirror nor the lights are effective enough in the dark.

Review Rating: B

Price: Rs. 650 for 6ml (2 years ago. Now the price might have changed).

Recommendation:The Colorbar Hollywood Lights Lip Gloss is a nice gloss no doubt, but in the price segment there are superior ones to this one no doubt!! Call my Agent is a lovely peachy rust shade with shimmer in it- looks natural and imparts a wet look to the lips. Just that the shimmer is hard to take off!!

I have a lip gloss by colorbar. My only problem with it is that it has a weird scent. Does this one smell funny as well?

The light in the cap has always fascinated me ;) i once hijacked my friend’s lip gloss because it has that light .

Why has Colorbar hiked the prices like crazy just because people are liking some of their products? At this price point i’ll prefer L’oreal glam shine…. Revlon is another crazy pricing its lipsticks at Rs 600 and above which might be the its biggest seller. Why don’t we get more sales on cosmetics on these companies when in West they have huge and regular sales ? Sorry for the rant… but i am sick of paying through my nose for cosmetics especially drugstore ones of the West ! I guess people in India are really very rich…
