Red Bull might give you wings, but there is an easier way to get them! And no, it doesn’t  involve Victoria”s Secret (though i would kill for a pair of VS wings!!!. My mom got me a VS tracksuit with “Im no angel”written at the back. <3 it!!!) . Anyway im digressing…here is a simple tutorial on how to do a winged eyeliner. Ill be honest- i dont do a perfect winged liner…but this is the only way i know how to do it . It somehow never really fails me- it may not be perfect but its kin of fail-proof and good for beginners.

How to do a Winged Eyeliner: Tutorial

How to do a Winged Eyeliner: Tutorial

Step 1:  Begin with your naked eye (put concealer ofcourse) .Get out your favourite black liner . I prefer using a liquid liner for this, but for this tutorial i am using Mac Black Track with a thin brush. Personally, i don like angled liner brushes- i just cant seem to make them work. So i like to use like a thin pointy brush with a gel liner

Step 2: Draw a regular line across your lid like you usually would. I remember someone asking me how i use my gel liner. Well my most confortable position is to press my palm into my cheek when holding the brush to get leverage. The i apply in short strokes.

Step 3: Using all your imaginatory powers, imagine that your lower lash line is extending towards your eyebrows.

Step 4: A little less than half way down that line make a black dot. I recommend making the dot 1/3rd of the way and not half because half can make it quite a dramatic winged liner!

Step 5: Join that dot to the end of your eye. This is the edge of your wing!

Step 6: Draw another black line with your eyeliner from that dot onto your eyelid. The way i figure out where to join is i look at where my eyebrow dips…that particular point is where i join it to my eyelid. See , now you have the outline of your eyeliner wing.

Step 7 : Wheee. Coloring timeeee!! Yes- color in that triangle shape you made above, smoothening out any rough edges. Go over your eyeliner, thickening it if you wish.

Step 7: At the outer corner, join the liner to the lower lash line- filling up any free spaces on the outer corner. For a more dramatic look, you can line your lower eye too. But i like it like this.

*This is a rather dramatic winged liner. For a more subtle, thinner wing i recommend you use a liquid liner thats easier to handle!

Thats a more subtle wing!

My ultimate aim is to get my winged liner to look like that of Bipasha Basu. Hers is all curvy and pretty and alluring and not so harsh. Im still trying to get mine to look like that!!! But for now, this will do…I wanted to actually wair a winged liner with pink lips for my youngsters but my boy HATES bright lips and he HATES winged liner or any sort of eyeliner for that matter. Not that i dress for him, but he has made a special request- NO MAKEUP for youngsters PLEASE! OFcourse i wont listen to that- ill just do my ‘made up, no makeup look ‘or something!

PS: If my eyes look puffy an tired its because this was done at 8:00 am! SO now you knw what i do before going to work.

Ya , i do that sometimes..instead of joining the wing at the tip , i join it halfway there so the tip is more prominent!

saw a winged tut on cynthia’s and loved it…this one’s easier though and can be fine even if it gets messy…do you tightline??? was looking for an easier tut for tightlining….for me, the biggest prob is keeping my eye lids still while doing anything to them :(

YIKKKEES!No make up look for a party?noooooo….I am sure the more used to bright lips he gets, he’ll start liking it. It is a good thing he has not met me, his definition of bright make up would change altogether and makes yours look tame lol x x x

OK , you NEED the sigma E05 for gel liner..its a like a sharp pencil , but only its a brush..and you’ll be rocking winged eyeliner like pro.

And its funny how guys say they don’t want us to wear makeup..they just mean “dramatic” makeup. But if I miss my Laura Mercier tinted mosituriser and my feline eye kohl and step out with nothing..the hub will be like..ugh you look sick..whats wrong?! So , guys just dont know what they are talking about. But I do know that they absolutely hate bold lips.
