Mac Hush Cream Color Base Swatch, Review

Guest Post by Dhara (Medium Skin  NC 41- and Combination Skin type)

” Wooww you are glowing Dhara !! What’s the secret ?”

” Its Husshh “…

” Oh Come on, tell us ..dont be so secretive!!”

“No No  Its Hush, a cream colour base from MAC ! ”

MAC Says : Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base in Hush can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. Apply with a brush… sponge, or fingers. Colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application. Fragrance-free.

As you can make out from the name, the nature of this product is cream based. MAC describes Hush as light peachy cream with icy shimmer. But it goes on as very light peach with pink undertones when swatched and a very sheer icy light pink on my lids. The icy shimmer does justice to thefrost texture. This multipurpose cream can be used as

  • a base for eye shadows and blushes,
  •  as a highlighter in brow and cheek area,
  • as a cream blush,
  • an over all lid colour
  • on the cupis’s bow to add extra oomph to your lip colour.

When used as base, it makes the colour of the shadows and blushes pop, giving them more lasting time and saving them(shadows) from creasing. On application, Hush is creamy and sets down within a minute, giving enough blending time. I tried using this on its own, but it was so sheer that my dark upper lid was quite visible. So I went on and applied a 2nd layer to add more colour intensity. Though i liked it better with 2 layers but some of the product also settled in the crease and wrinkles. While when used as base, my eye shadow lasted for around 8 hrs  and blush for 7 hrs with Hush as base. This is a sure shot short cut to dewy cheeks. Just apply a bit underneath your blusher and on your cheekbones as a highlighter and voila, you have dewy, glowing skin :D .

Hush is best suited to light-medium skintones. Anyone above NC42, this may not be for you . Even though, Hush is frost in texture, it blends like a dream. And its super light-feels like a feather. It takes very little amount of product to achieve desirable results, so this will last a long long time. Given the versatility of this product, it is full value for money.

Rating: A+

Price: Rs. 1150/- for 3.2 gms.

Recommendation: Mac  Hush is a super pretty peachy pink cream color base that goes on icy pink with shimmer on the skin. This is really great to elongate the wear of your blushes and your shadows as well as a short cut to glowing, dewy skin (It makes as a fantastic highlighter). I dont recommend you wear this alone on the lid as its quite sheer, but if you want something to make you glow under or over your blushes this is it!

(Editors Note: This is actually a hot favourite with Mac makeup artists. Iv seen this being used on almost all fashion shows backstage- highlighter, base, lid color…iv been wanting one for ages!)

I swatched MAC CCB in improper copper that one is stunning too, hush has been on my radar but has been OOS at the counters I checked out, these CCBs are a must buy. MAC hiked its price from 1000 bucks to 1150 but still I think it’s worth it.

mehak May 17, 2012 at 10:20 pm

Yes i realllllly want a CCB ya!!! Its between this and improper copper..depends on which one ill use in more ways
