Maybelline Color Sensational  High Shine Lipstick Fruit Punch

” Its getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes..” . Dont worry, i am not interested in seeing you while you do that, its just that if i ever look back to the song that bought everyone to the dance floor when i was in class ten, it was this one by Nelly!! I remember “ Hot in Here” and ” Dilemma” being played all over those teeny parties with girls going crazy on the floor. But while the song is slightly impractical (We stay in India hello- i wish we could take off (almost) all our clothes without a guy going ‘ Hey saaxxxy babiesss ” ) i do think that it holds true with makeup. Seriously, when the mercury is rising, the last thing i want to do is look at a lipstick that’ s going to cover my lips in some sort of a blanket. NO. Please. Lips need to breathe!!!  So the perfect kind of lipsticks for summer are the light and airy Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lipsticks– like this one in Fruit Punch ( Fruit Punch is another thing that reminds me of my teeny bopper days)

Fruit Punch- The Color

Fruit Punch, really does look like a fruit punch. Dont believe me? Look at the photo below! Its like this warm, brightish pink with red undertones that should flatter most indian skin tones from light to dusky because of the warm under currents to  it. Fruit Punch has tiny shimmer particles within it which dance as they catch the light, and whether you love them or loathe them is a personal opinion.  They are fairly unobtrusive and non gritty  but I dont love them, but loathe is a strong word roo- id rather just prefer the lipstick without them somehow. I dont know, maybe its me but i prefer my pinks to be shimmer free, specially when they already have a sheen to them.In some ways this reminds me a bit of  MAC Viva Glam Cyndi  , but its not really a dupe for it.

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipsticks : The formula

Remember those contact lens ads which used to say ” As comfortable as wearing- nothing at all!” . Well thats a tag line that would work for , Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lipsticks too because they are really easy and light and comfortable to wear- they just slip on and feel weightless on your lips- almost like non sticky lip glosses you know! The pigmentation is sheer at first, but it can be built up to a really nice opaque-ish level , with a shiney, almost gloss like finish. They are incredibly moisturizing, and suprisingly dint get wiped off too quickly- yes  they fade  quickly, but they  have this stain-ish quality to them that is retained. Kind of like Mac Lustre Finish Lipsticks, but slightly longer lasting- say about 4 hours is what i get with this. Personally, somehow i dont love the shimmer finish in these lipsticks, but thats a personal preference! I love how sleekly these are packed too- even the packaging is High Shine!

Yes: Thats a pen mark on my arm next to the Fruit Punch Swatch- i thought id give you some proof that i do have a real job too!

This is a somewhat sheered out version of Maybelline fruit punch- its how i like to wear it. In reality the color is a deeper pink like the one below:

Verdict: A-

Product:4/5, Pigmentation:3.5/5 , Texture: 4/5, Longevity: 4/5, Value & Packaging: 3.5/5

Price: Rs 399/-

Recommendation: Fruit Punch is a super pretty warm  bright pink, with reddish undertones that should flatter a range of indian skintones. I have to say though, even though the shimmer is subtle, im not a fan of it in this shade- i just feel like it imparts a slightly cheapy quality to the way the lipstick looks-Just a personal preference- but otherwise this is one of those picture perfect summer colors !!!!These Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine lipsticks, are lightweight, comfortable,  and moisturizing to wear with pigmentation that can be built up from sheer at first to heavier coverage with 2-3 swipes.  I just love the sheeny finish they give – i can just so imagine me wearing this glossy lip color while sipping on a tall pitcher of fruit punch through a straw with a lime in it !!!!!  I want Coral Lustre next!
