Nivea Vitamin Shake Lip Balm Review

Guest Post Written by Sristi (Medium Skin Tone, Normal to Oily Skin)

I am a self confessed lip balm addict.  I have a minimum of 4-5 lip balms at any given time. Mom thinks I’m crazy. Boyfriend thinks I’m crazy. But I’m sure you guys would understand, right? So the first thing that struck me about this lip balm was its name – VITAMIN SHAKE! Quite intriguing right? And then it’s from Nivea and we all know how good Nivea lip balms are. And finally, the flavor is Cranberry and Raspberry ( I love Bacardi’s Cranberry Breezer, btw)! I simply had to have it! :D (Editors Note: Just a thought. Imagine alcohol flavoured lip balms. Like Mint Mojito Lip Balm, Margarita Lip Balm, Bacardi Breezer Lip Balm!)

Nivea Claims:
Do you wish to nourish and protect your lips while enjoying a luscious flavor and fragrance?
The innovative marbled formula of Nivea Vitamin Shake combines intensive moisture and a blend of fruit extracts with vitamins for a smooth and nourished look with a light fruity tint.

  • Intensive moisture with vitamins C and E and Pro-vitamin B5.
  • Natural pinkish tint and subtle flavor blend of Cranberry and Raspberry.
  • SPF 10 with protection from UVA and UVB rays.
  • Skin compatibility and dermatologically tested.
My Experience with Nivea Vitamin Shake Lip Balm

The Nivea Vitamin Shake lip balm comes in the similar cute stubby packaging of Nivea lip balms. Its pink and red in color and shuts firmly with a click.  The smell of the lip balm is absolutely yummy! It’s not overpowering but is a subtle, fruity blend of cranberry and raspberry. One of the most important things that I look for in my lip balms is the smell. And this one scores high in that area.
Another major attention grabber of this lip balm is how it looks in the stick form. It has this marbled finish. You know, like little swirls of pink and red. Its super pretty and I have never seen anything like it!

On application, it has a very light, almost transparent, pinkish tint. The texture is just right and it glides on smoothly on the lips. The only problem that I have noticed with Nivea lip balms is that they melt in this hot weather. So you need to store it in the fridge or else if you try and apply the lip balm directly on the lips, it might break. So yeah, this baby is a little fragile during summers!
Nivea lip balms have great staying power and so does this one. It keeps my lips moisturized for a good 4-4.5 hours after which I feel the need to re-apply. It makes my lips feel smooth and the fragrance lingers on for a while! Another added advantage of this lip balm is that it has SPF 10.
One thing that I’d like to mention is that I don’t really know if it’s available in the retail stores. I purchased it from That online store has become my favorite these days! Delivery in 2 days everytime! Brilliant!

Pros of Nivea Vitamin Shake

  • Cute and sturdy packaging.
  • Lovely, not overpowering, fruity smell.
  • The first of its kind marbled finish.
  • 4-4.5 hours of wear.
  • Moisturizing and hydrating.
  • SPF 10.
  • Makes lips feel soft and smooth.
  • Affordable price.

Cons of Nivea Vitamin Shake Lip Balm

  •  This needs to be stored in the fridge during summers. It does tend to melt pretty quickl

Rating: A

Price:- Rs. 139/- for  4.8g.

Will I Repurchase? – Absolutely! I love everything about this lip balm. It does everything that a lip balm is suppose to do and does it very well!
Recommendation– If you are looking for sweet smelling, transparent, high performance lip balm, you should definitely give Nivea Vitamin Shake a try!

Nice post..However I do have one and sadly the name doesn’t resemble anything of cranberry or raspberry sort .Instead its brown and cream color swirl bar..Totally disappoiting interms of pigment..There is hardly any tint..However supermoisturising the fact that I love..The color in the photograph is with light or flash I dont know but doesnt resemble anything of that peachy colour..But a good post looking forward for more reviews..

The picture is exactly how it actually looks in the stick. May be u got a bad product or something. I am quite satisfied with mine. :)

Rajasuya June 4, 2012 at 5:19 pm

I thought Nivea produces uniform products in the same line..Not sure about bad product piece since it was fresh and non -expired ..Anyways doesn’t matter much for the price…

Niyomi May 31, 2012 at 10:38 am

Nivea is a good product, but if you are looking for something different, you ought to try Parachute products. As they say ‘Old is gold’, it is true with Parachute. I have heard that they have launched a new summer variant. Please do review it and let us know. I want to give it a try.
