Freeman Facial Clay Mask Avocado & Oatmeal
Guest Review by Kritika (Medium Skin Tone, Combination-Oily Skin)
There is just something about the word, ‘Avocado’. I like saying it and it sounds like one of those spells in Harry Potter like, ‘Avada Kedavra’ or ‘Defodio’ or ‘Incedio’..you know what I mean? I can totally imagine Harry or Hermione going, ‘Avodadooooo’ and casting a spell. Before you all think I’m some kind of a crazy Harry Potter fan, I’ll just get down to the review.
I used to have extremely dry skin till like a year ago and I would pile on loads of moisturizers and stuff and suddenly somehow it just changed and now I have combination skin with extremely oily T zone. I knew I had to get things under control when I started developing stubborn whitehead and that’s when I found Freeman’s Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask. I’m so glad I did because it has become a HG clay mask for me now and I absolutely love it !! I wouldn’t even go near clay masks till like a year ago when I had super dry skin but now I can’t stay without them.
Freeman Says: This rich clay mask, with added Oatmeal and Vitamin E, draws out excess oils and dirt and purging clogged pores, leaving your skin clean and soft. Perfect for normal to oily skin.

The mask comes in a soft, opaque green packaging. The mask is minty green in colour, mint is everywhere currently..including face masks. Its very creamy in texture and spreads easily but there is a tendency to go overboard with it and apply a thick layer. It definitely has a smell, I can’t identify it though,it’s not of avocado or oatmeal. It’s more like..umm..PlayDough. The colourful modelling compound for kids you know? The smell doesn’t bother me much and I’ve gotten quite used to it now. Initially some of you might feel it’s weird.
The mask contains avocado oil, oatmeal and Vitamin E. Avocado oil is known for its moisturising properties; oatmeal calms the skin; Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Working with these ingredients, the kaolin clay draws out excess oils and dirt from the skin and purges clogged pores, giving you healthy, beautiful skin. I’ve been blown away by its awesomeness. It cleans your skin so well. By clean I mean literally, ‘purifies’ it. It’s like someone took a mini vacuum cleaner and vacuum cleaned your skin. Not over exaggerating I swear. It really cleans your pores and pulls out excess oil, grim and dirt. I don’t have any blackheads so I don’t know how well this will work on blackheads, but I have a feeling it will really unclog your pores and pull those nasty things out. It dries out the pimples too and calms them down and over time helps in reducing their reoccurrence. Once you wash it off, and it’s very easy to wash off, 3 – 4 splashes and most of it is gone, the skin feels squeaky clean, smooth and much brighter. I have medium sized pores which shrink and become unnoticeable after I wash the mask off. I use this once a week and sometimes twice also and it doesn’t over dries my skin. It really tightens the skin as well and the skin feels more even. I love how matte my skin feels after using this. Sometimes when my skin is feeling lazy, I only apply it on my T zone and it helps in absorbing the excess oil. Or when I see a zit erupting, I dab some of this mask on that and it seems to calm down for a while.
On the first few applications, it gave a mild tingly feeling. But which face mask doesn’t? Oh wait, the utterly useless ones don’t. Lol. It doesn’t sting anymore; guess my skin has gotten used to it now. On a serious note, if you have extremely sensitive skin, or are allergic to avocado or oatmeal, try it before you put it on your face. Secondly, if your skin happens to have accumulated a lot of dirt and your pores are very very clogged, you might see a few spots erupting after the use, like the kinds you get after getting a facial done in the parlour. I got a gigantic blackhead like spot after I used it for the first time but it went away in a day or two. It wasn’t a breakout caused by the mask because it never happened again. I don’t consider this a con because unclogging my pores and getting all the yucky stuff is more important. I don’t want all that gunk hiding underneath my skin.
Overall Verdict: A+
Price: Rs 220/- from medplusbeauty.com
Will I repurchase:Oh I absolutely will. I also wanna try out the Mint and Lemmon clay mask by the same brand.
Recommendation: If you have normal to oily skin and need a clay mask for summers that will leave your skin absolutely squeaky clean, this is the one. However, if you have extremely dry or sensitive skin or only like completely odourless products, you can give probably give this a miss.
