Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Review

Written by Guest Blogger Kejal

Lip butter conjures up images of yummy real butter sticks that come in lippy boxes that you can apply on your lips and lick as you eat your toast. Revlons  Colorburst lip butters created quite a buzz when they were launched. These are like hybrid of lipsticks and lip balms. Basically a lip balm with high colour pay off- moisturizing, yet pigmented!. Available in 20 shades.

The company claims:

Color Burst Lip Butter by Revlon is a buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.

  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
  • Sheer to medium color with buttery shine

Much like other Revlon lip products these come packed in the quilted plastic sleeve which feels quite sturdy.

Shade: Peach parfait is a warm peach..almost coral shade and has medium pigmentation. There is visible golden shimmer in this particular shade which all may not be very fond of. However on the lips, the gold just glistens and reflects light and adds to the prettiness quotient of the peach.

Application/Coverage: This glides on really butter. I’d compare them as similar to Mac Cremesheen in terms of application. It doesn’t feel heavy/sticky on lips so these are great for summer months. Specially if you are not fond of wearing  a heavy duty lipstick in sultry months these lip butters by revlon are a pretty good option.

Single swipe gives reasonable colour pay off. Semi-opaque coverage with a glossy finish. However highly pigmented lips may not find them easy to work with. Decently hydrating and has a slight typical lippie smell which wears off in a couple of minutes.

Lasting power: This easily lasts 2-3 hours on my lips.

Verdict: B+

Price: Rs 700/- approx. in Hong Kong. ($8 in U.S.)

Availability is an issue since these are not available here in India.

Verdict:The Revlon colorburst lip butters are  basically lip balms with high color payoff. These are great to have in your bag, are moisturizing, light weight and reasonably color good payoff though those with very pigmented lips will definitely need higher coverage. Peach Parfait is a soft warm peach that i love but Honestly, its the price that bothers me- 700 rs for a tinted lip balm is way above my spend threshold- i dont think ill be inclined to buy another one at this price!
