Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Review and Swatches

Guest Post by Pratha (Light Skin tone, Oily Skin)

 I got Naked too (2) !

How do you convert a ‘scared to apply eyeshadow to work’ girl to ‘yay!! I can now apply more than one shade and carry-off the look’ diva?? Simple.. get her the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette!! Naked 2 is the sequel to the uber popular Naked palette by Urban Decay. Now IMHO the Naked palette didn’t exactly have all the shades required to create a no- nonsense, glowy, work appropriate day to evening kinda look (that is basically the usp of both the Naked palettes).. some shades were neutral(good) but more than half of them were strictly for more dressy occasions!

Urban Decay Naked 2 more than makes up for the void left by the Naked palette by giving us working girls fabulous options in the neutral eye shadow space, all in one great looking, tough package!! The complete package comes with the best quality full sized shadow+crease brush, which makes the application a total breeze, a corner to corner mirror to admire your looks and the big plus a cute purse size lip gloss (looks red but it’s absolutely neutral and very minty!!)

The colors in the palette range from all over eye-colors, to crease colors and highlighters. Shades range from matt to shimmer to metallics..!! One of the best parts of the shade range is that one can easily create a wide variety of ‘work appropriate’ (that being the operative word) looks. Nude eyes for that important meeting, shimmery eyes for that client lunch, subtle-smokey eyes for the office party, all can be created by just this one amazing box of chic-ness.

Mattes – Foxy, Tease, Blackout

Shimmer – Bootycall, Busted

Metallics – Half Baked, Chopper, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK

How I use them (just a suggestion):

All over color – Half Baked, Tease, Chopper, Suspect.

Crease colors – Snakebite, Pistol, YDK, Busted.

Browbone/Corners – Foxy, Bootycall, Verve

Smoky Eyes – Blackout+Pistol+YDK

Blending any of these colors is not a problem, they are all meant to fuse together to give you the best looking ‘naked’ feel ;) . Just one flipside that I felt was the absolute need for an eye primer underneath to enhance the longevity and the brightness of the more neutral shades.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette Swatches

Rating: A-

Price: 80 SGD (Got it fromSephora,Singapore)

Recommendation: Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette is a fab investment for working girls (I say working coz these colors can be applied without much fuss and will give a subtle, clean, corporate chic look). Colors are nice, no-nonsense and just one palette satisfies your craving for all the neutrals and browns.

Heres hoping that someday you will get NAKED 2!!

Wooo..the much awaited review atlast !Loving Halfbaked, Chopper, Busted and Pistol …but pigmentation seems to be a problem??

Pratha July 19, 2012 at 9:45 pm

Hey Dolon,
Yep, pigmentation is a slight problem since most of the shades are neutral.. but I feel they’ll look fab on more darker skin tones… :)

Hey Pratha,

Would this palette work on NC45 skin, or would it just turn into a load of skin-toned shimmer? Would a primer help? Are there any problems with glitter fall-out?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but this palette looks REALLY good.

Pratha July 20, 2012 at 2:26 pm

Hey Frances

The colors in the palette do look very shimmery but they in-fact are very blend-able and there is no glitter fall-out as such. The shades are designed to fuse together..so if you feel the shimmer/metallic effect is over powering then combine it with a matte shade and the result will be pretty muted!!
The palette will go great on a darker skin tone.. but make sure you use a primer!!

The light colors don’t look so pigmented without a primer na..though I like the shades in Naked more..
