Lancome Le Crayon Kohl Noir Review

There are a few things in life which give me a minor heart attack. One is when the boy says he will be ‘working from home’ today. Boy alone + my  our house = Bombsite with mess everywhere! Another is usually when im watching Pretty Little Liars alone at night in an empty house and some other psycho character is revealed ! And the third happened recently  when the  Clinique guy told  me that the Clinique Quickliner for Eyes is sold out. The thing is, i have EXTREMELY sensitive eyes- they turn red at the touch of any kohl and the Clinique Quickliner is the only kohl out there which makes sure my eyes stay clear  and non itchy.  Knowing that there is no other drugstore kohl (iv tried them ALLL) that can save my eyes, i took a gamble with Lancome Le Crayon Kohl and am i glad i did !!!!

Lancome Claims Create a sensual, intense eye look with ease. This smudgy, creamy-smooth eye pencil delivers a dose of decadent colour that glides on effortlessly and blends beautifully. In an instant, eyes are perfectly lined, defined and contoured for a smouldering effect that’s absolutely irresistible.

Apart from the obvious fact that this is pencil is sort of like the Giraffe among kohl pencils (Have you seen how long it is..its so long that its not a Kohl pencil its a Kooooohhhhlllllllllllllll Pencil!), Lancome Le Crayon’s first impressions on me were ‘ Oww’. They kind of sharpen the edge WAY too much in the beginning i feel, and its almost too sharp to be put on the eye though its so precise that you can draw any kind of patterns with this! Once the pencil blunts down a bit is when you really enjoy all the fantastic properties of this pencil- it is a rich, dark black and it glides super smoothly on the upper and lower lash line. Two soft swipes and i am set to go !

It also lasts a fair amount of time, one work day and post that i can see it fade without any extra smudging ! Infact whats nice is that you can get a nice clean crisp swipe if you wish, but if you are more into smudgy kohl, then you can smudge it with a cotton bu and it will stay put like that the whole day.Best of all, it doesnt irritate my ultra sensitive eyes at all and that my friends, is very VERY rare for a kohl pencil to do for my eyes !! There is a ton of product in there so one pencil is likely to last you 7 months AT LEAST (unless you are a raccoon). They also dont break like some pencils do when you sharpen em so hurray for no kohl wastage ! But what i dont like is how they get a bit uneven and old looking when you sharpen em ! Hello, i want my pencil looking spanking new and not ridged and uneven looking after one sharpen. Having said that though, its definitely one of the best kohls iv tried so far!

Left: One swipe, Right: Two swipes

Verdict: A+

Product:5/5, Pigmentation: 4.5/5, Texture: 5/5, Longevity:4/4, Value & Packaging: 4.5/5

Price: Rs 1100/-

Recommendation: For those of you who have ultra sensitive eyes, and still want a deep, rich pencil for an intense eye Lancome Le Crayon Kohl Noir does not dissapoint. I used to swear by my Clinique Quickliner, but this one is more pigmented, does not pull or tug at all (Its like butter)  and this one can stay put on your eye in one clean line or can be smudged for a softer look if you wish. Lasts a long time without giving you raccoon eyes, i only wish this was a twist up rather than sharpenable one. I dont like how pencils get a bit uneven after sharpening.

By the way, speakin of kajals i tried the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal the other day and REALLY liked it !!

I’ve heard good stuff about Lancôme kohl, though am yet to try out,my eyes aren’t particularly sensitive and barring few monstrous Kohl most seem to work well.this looks like a more soft focus kind of black,I like it,will check it once I run outta my current kohls :)

Ya yknow if yr eyes r not sensitive then i dont know whether expensive kohls make that much sense. I mean i love the drugstore kohls you know? they deliver brilliant pigmntation and everything its just the eye watering thing that pushes me to higher end kohls!

Lancome has one the best kohls out there n even the non waterproof ones have decent staying power-the ones i have- ‘black coffee’ n ‘teal'(waterproof, not as looong as the regular ones but the packaging is oh so cute) glide on like cream n are totally smudge proof….love ’em :-)

mehak September 20, 2012 at 12:49 pm

ooh must check out the teal one!!

Whoa!! Thats nice. Especially because my eye reddens with any kohl and it stays for like 5 minutes after I put it on…I will get this when I finish my current Maybelline stock!!

I like that this doesnt spread out later during the day, a couple of ones I have kind of spread out later without me realising I look like racoon

Ooh nice one! Lancome does have a retractable pencil that comed with a smudger at one end. Maybe u could try that as well :-) I havent tried black but did use brown n grey n they were good.

What is difference between Black Eye pencil (liner) and Kohl pencil? Was told by beautician that all kohl (Surma) contains lead so I don’t use it. I tried Shahnaz Hussain thinking its a herbal product however it irritate eyes. So I use liners only.

Im not 100% suremyself, but kohls are generally referred to as powdered black kohl which is then formed into a pencil. They are more smudgy, softer and give a more hazey sort of look as compared to eyeliners.

This sounds like a real good one Mehak. Thankfully my eyes are not sensitive so i dont mind using drugstore ones. :)

Thankfully my eyes can tolerate almost everything that I subject them to..This one sounds great but too pricey for a pencil
