Revlon Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

Guest Review by Priya R (Light Skin tone, Normal to Dry Skin)

Product Description:

This creamy makeup remover lifts away of makeup (including longwearing and transfer resistant makeup).

  • This creamy makeup remover lifts away all kinds of makeup, including longwearing and transfer resistant makeup.
  • Leaves skin comfortably soft and free of residue
  • Non-irritating
  • Ophthalmologist tested
  • Won’t cause breakouts

My Views:

For years I had been using cleansing cream and face wash for removing makeup and it did work well but it required me working for good 10-15 minutes on cleaning and also it used to cause lots of tugging the skin with cotton which caused irritation. Hence I decided to try out the Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover.

The Revlon makeup remover comes in a sturdy tube packaging with flip open cap which is convenient to use. The texture is cream based and not like other makeup removers which is composed of liquid & oil. Also, the tediousness of mixing the oil & liquid for every use was also something I didn’t like. Infact, I couldn’t get over the idea of actually using “oil” on my face as I have very sensitive skin.

The cream based remover is very thin and runny, the tube cannot be placed vertically as it causes the thin consistency cream runs towards the mouth and it flows out running once the flip cap is opened creating a mess. It always needs to be placed horizontally.

As instructed on the tube, I start by applying the cream based remover all over my face and rubbing it lightly & in doing so if you open your eyes accidently to see if it’s cleaning the tough makeup; it definitely gets into the eyes. It does sting the eyes badly and makes the vision blurry. I prefer using the remover by spreading it gently with the cotton but that result in usage of excess product because the cotton absorbs most of the product.

Talking about the results, it does clean the makeup well but it needs to be swiped 2-3 times. I like makeup removers which work in first swipe only. After cleaning it leaves a light oily layer on the skin which unpleasant and needs to cleansed immediately even though I have a dry skin. It did not break out my skin but I am not sure how it will fair on oily skin.

Pros of Revlon Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

  1. Sturdy Packaging
  2. Cleans makeup effectively
  3. Texture is creamy unlike other makeup removers which need to be shaken well before use
  4. Did not break out my skin

Cons of Revlon Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

  1. Stings & Blurs the vision if it enters the eyes
  2. Gel like consistency of the makeup remover easily accumulates at the mouth of the tube
  3. Does not clean in single swipe
  4. Leaves an oily layer on the skin post usage

Verdict: B-

Price: Rs 200 for 60 ml

Recommendation:The Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover works fine as a remover but it leaves behind the oily layer on the skin which might cause acne. The creamy textured product accumulates at the mouth and needs to be always placed horizontally or else it will create wastage. And most importantly it stings in the eyes & blurs the vision!

stings eye???? This is a total no for me. I feel that the Bi-phase ones are better than the creamy one

mehak September 27, 2012 at 3:54 pm
