Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick
Guest Review by Priya R. (Light Skin Tone, Normal To Dry Skin)
Product Description:
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.
My Views:
I know, I know MAC Ruby Woo is “The” Red Lipstick which everyone raves about around the globe, I thought to talk about it too as Christmas & New Year are around the corner and it is the perfect time to flaunt your red lips;) MAC Ruby Woo is a blue based bright red color. It is the classic retro red color which gives that vintage kind of feel and it is a must have in every gal’s vanity. Ruby Woo is such a versatile color that it suits the brightest, the palest, the fairest, the dukiest & the darkest skin tone. It is one of those classic reds which won’t discriminate how it looks on you. I call it the “Safest Red” as I know it can’t go wrong on any skin tone.
MAC Ruby Woo is a part of MAC’s permanent collection and it packaging is standard as well. The texture & finish of this lipstick is matte and it is one of most drying lipstick I have ever tried. Though it glides on easily on the lips but within minutes it gives that drag-y & tugging feeling. I recommend not only using a clear lip balm below the lipstick but I would suggest going through proper lip scrubbing & exfoliating procedure beforehand. For me, the color is gorgeous and I really don’t mind the extra pre-preparation for this beauty. Ruby Woo is extremely pigmented; a maximum of two strokes is good enough to get the opaque finish. The combination of matte texture & high pigmentation makes it a long wearing color – it lasted on me for about 4 hours before it started to fade and I did not have any meals in between. Though this lipstick does not bleed but once it starts fading away it can easily highlight lip imperfections, if any. So, I suggest doing a touch up every few hours if you are planning to stay out long.
Pros of Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick
- Classic red color which will suit any kind of skin tone
- Highly pigmented
- Matte finish
- Gives classic retro feel/look
- Long wearing
- Does not feather or bleed. It starts to fade after few hours.
Cons of Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick
- Requires exfoliating lips beforehand
- Very Drying texture
Verdict: A-
Price: Rs 990/-
Recommendation: MAC Ruby Woo is a classic vintage red color and it looks absolutely gorgeous & any gal could rock this shade easily. Even though the texture is very very drying, with proper lip care this lipstick truely makes you stand out! Worth every pain & I highly recommend it!

I love Ruby Woo too…but it actually feels like I’m using a child’s crayon on my lips! The colour and texture are identical to a crayon don’t u think?
