Loreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum

Guest Post by Priya R. (Light Skin tone, dry to normal skin type)

Product Description: L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum works through its anti-frizz and anti-volume action, curbing humidity led dampness of hair while preventing waves or volume from resuming their form.

  • 10 times smoother hair
  • Retains smoothness for 48 hours
  • Contains Argan Oil and Silk Protein
  • Keeps hair light and manageable

My Views:

I started using hair serums about few years ago when I chemically straightened my hair-until then I didn’t even know why a serum is needed in life !. The hair expert who straightened my hair recommended i use the  Loreal’s Liss Ultime which was really good in terms of managing frizz & keeping the hair shiny throughout the day. When I ran out of my Liss Ultime , I got the L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum only for the sole reason it is cheaper and from the same brand! For the price, the quantity is a lot for a hair serum and it seems like it will last me till eternity.

It claims to be made of Argan oil which I heard is good for hair (I don’t know why but it is good!) The serum’s texture is as thick as oil but it is non-greasy and gets fully absorbed in a minute. It can be used on dry hair or wet hair as well.  I rarely use it on dry hair unless I want to style my hair with hot tools. I prefer using it on towel dried hair and I start from the roots since I have maximum frizzy hair near my crown and temple area . I work my way towards to the end.. Applying the serum on wet hair and waiting it to dry naturally before combing ensures the hair remains tangle free and you definitely see less breakage – full marks here! But controlling the frizzy hair, it is does not work that well. It controls the frizziness to an extent only and I still end up with fly-away’s  near the forehead.

Loreal Hair Serum (4) Loreal Hair Serum (5) Loreal Hair Serum (2) Loreal Hair Serum (1)

  1. Light serum does not weigh down my fine hair
  2. Gives glossy finish to the hair which stays on until the next hair wash
  3. Contains argan oil
  4. Helps in managing tangled hair
  5. Prevents hair breakage due to tangling

  1. Not 100% effective in controlling hair frizz which is its ultimate job anyway!

Verdict: B

Price: 240 for 40 ml

Recommendation: L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum is a decent serum and works effectively in managing tangled hair after washing & which in turn helps in less hair breakage. It gives smooth & shiny hair but it is not very effective in controlling frizziness in the hair. If you are on a budget and does not have very frizzy hair then it is definitely worth buying. But if controlling hair frizziness is your goal then you can skip this!

I have been using X-Tenso Care Nutri-Reconstructor Serum its good in controling fizzy hair but I have seen my hair require frequent wash when i use them else I could have skipped hair wash for one more day.

Mehak, you can try Lumi Oil Drop no. 2 … It is really good for controlling frizz :)

I am. On my second bottle of this now. Works well for my almost straight well behaved hair.. less breakage, softer and i love the smell.
But yes it makes my hair flatter sooner. so i use it alternately.

I am using this currently and tt works beautifully for my hair.It makes my hair frizz free, soft and shiny and even makes them little bit straight when I apply this on wet hair.

argan oil is such a rage these days :)
I have fine hair will this weigh it down??

Priya Raghuwanshi March 16, 2013 at 5:38 pm

No it doesn’t weight down the hair. I have fine hair too

Swati March 15, 2013 at 9:12 pm

Abhi, since you have fine hair it might weigh it down a bit. Try using a very small quantity on damp hair only on the lengths. Avoid the root and scalp area completely. :)

I have tried many of the Ever Pure, EverStrong, and EverSleek products and none of them worked well for my long, fine, heat damaged hair. My makeup artist recommended using the Shielo Smoothing Shampoo with the Shielo Hair OIl and its MUCH BETTER. My hair feels healthy and strong but still has body and bounce ~ a tough combination to find. And, Shielo does NOT use harmful chemicals like Loreal.

I have very curly, frizzy hair, and it has been a challenge for me to find products that reduce frizz while not making my hair feel “crunchy.” My hair dresser started using the Shielo Restoration Oil in my hair after I dry it – and the result is very smooth curls. I really like the Shielo Oil and it smells delicious. I would recommend for anyone with dry or curly hair.
