How You View Yourself: Brilliant Dove Real Beauty Sketches Ad

I knew i had to share this the minute i saw this. Dove has come up with a brilliant ad, about how women see themselves. They asked a forensic expert to sketch two versions of the same person- one described by the person themselves, and one described by someone else who had seen them.

The ad throws light on how we view ourselves, and sometimes our insecurities  cloud our perception of what we look like. The ad really hit home, and like they say “Sometimes as women we tend to spend a lot of time trying to fix  the things that arent quite right. We need to spend more time appreciating the things we do like ”

Brilliant Ad.. We are so much concerned about how we look and worry so much about it…
I think we should learn to chill out and just love ourselves.. Who has the right to define
what’s beautiful and what’s not..

such a brilliant concept.. in line with their brand proposition of real women..It’s so true and most of the times we are aware how overcritical we are of our own features.. but yet we just do’t realise how grateful we should be for what we have.

This is yet another beautiful ad by dove. Very nice and real.
There was another ad with n*de old women for Pro Age. That was also very nice but sadly was banned. It was very beautifully done with women over 50. It was beautiful how they brought in those women

Genuine ad! When in doubt how good yu look right now, look at your snaps from couple of years back and try to remember how u felt about yourself at that time.. In most cases yu would have felt either too fat/ not looking as per your expectation, then. But today those snaps would make you drool on how good yu actually looked back then. Be comfortable in your own skin…

really loved this ad. Thanks a lot for posting this. I always get to find out flaws in my face and do realise i m what i m with all these,bt the real thing i got to see thru this is we all are beautiful ppl with our own individual features. We all are special!!

I think because of the insecurities, we start to become critical with our appearance and notice every small thing in our body. This is really an inspiring video and hope all women out there will see this.

MissBoPeep April 19, 2013 at 1:10 pm

Little filmly of how can the sketch be do accurate wen u describing someone u met sometime ago. But loveeeeeeeee the concept. So true…we should start loving ourselves as we are.

mehak April 19, 2013 at 1:58 pm

Oh actually, its not that filmy. Cos when a crime happens, the witnesses who may have seen jus a glimpse of the culprit are asked to describe him and the forensic guy comes up with a sketch.

Gr8 Concept.. M touched

Swagata April 19, 2013 at 11:33 pm

I like the concept, but not the fact that being thin ( “she was thin and you could see her cheekbones”, “fairly thin” etc) and blue eyes were the highlight of the video.
Also, what if people look like the one on the left side? They’re not worth much then, are they?

yea watched it yesterday ! it was very touching ! We need to value ourselves more !
