Guerlain Gloss Denfer Review & Swatches

There are five things in life every girl must try at some point of time in her life.

1 ) Dance on a table top

2) Walk out in PJ’s without caring too hoots about how she looks

 3) Ride on the back of a motorcycle, or better yet ride one yourself

 4) Take a trip with only girl friends

 5) Wear a luxuriously rich red lipgloss (Out in public, not in front of the mirror)

And if you really have to do Number 5, why not go the whole hog and wear Guerlain Gloss Dénfer in Rouge Shebam!!! Sure,  in that much money you can instead have a nice dinner for two , or like 20 scoops of Baskin & Robbins Chocolate Mousse Royal but once in a while, a girl’s got to splurge!

Rouge Shebam from Guerlain is  a beautiful Cherry Red, with a hint of orange in it (Anyone have any ideas about what the hell Shebam means?) . Its a red that will definitely work with the warmer tones as well as the cooler ones and make for one , bright, glossy red lip. Because these glosses are semi-opaque i feel they are best worn by girls who don’t have pigmented lips. You see, when you make a bright red gloss, it needs to be super opaque or it needs to be worn over a lipstick- otherwise all that brown pigmentation can peek through the bright red and  not look too inviting! When you have a pink or brown gloss, it doesn’t really matter but with red..its not very appealing.

In terms of texture, these are hands down numero uno girls. Light as a feather , smooth as butter  and  completely non sticky (I was going to go with as non sticky as a Hawkins Frying pan but that was a rather lame joke i thought). I’m talking like maybe 0.50% sticky but that’s those of you with a ‘chip chip ‘ obsession with lurrrve these glosses. These are supremely hydrating, super smooth to apply  and in terms of the texture these are so thin and lightweight that if it werent for that pop of colour on your lips, you wouldn’t feel a thing! !! Definitely the best gloss formula iv ever tried- plus super long lasting too!

Verdict: A (Bordering on A+)

Price: I think these are for around 1800-2000 in India!

Recommendation: The Guerlain Gloss Denfer in Rouge Shebam is a cherry red gloss that is universally flattering. These glosses are hands down the best formula of glosses iv tried- completely non sticky , long lasting, and hydrating. They are semi-opaque so i wish the brighter colours would be more completely opaque just so its easier for us with pigmented lips to wear em.

thats a fantastic color…i guess it will be 2300 INR as Guerlain is a bit pricey ..lovely color….how long lasting was it?

mehak June 15, 2013 at 10:31 am

Hi Neeraj. yes 2300….well givn that it is completely non sticky i still got about 3-4 hours of wear time which i thought is really good for a gloss

Neeraj June 15, 2013 at 1:57 pm

Sumathi June 15, 2013 at 4:39 pm

That’s a super hot colour…
I too want to go out wearing a really bright red… It feels so good not to give a tiny rat’s ___ to what others would think and just do what we love.. Not that easy, but I’d like to be like that :)

Bhagyashree June 15, 2013 at 9:21 pm

Hi Mehak,

Shebam is a dance form.. which I have incidently learnt :) however its pronounced sh’bam

mehak June 15, 2013 at 9:36 pm

Oh wow !!! What kind of dance is it??
And any idea why this would be named that?

Bhagyashree June 17, 2013 at 2:41 pm

Sh’bam is a workout dance routine much like Zumba. A lot of latin moves ;-)

I don’t know why this would be called that, maybe because it sounds chic??

Bhumika June 16, 2013 at 5:46 pm

Thats a gorgeous red !
