Mac MineralizeTinted Lip Balm in Pure & Tender: Review & Swatches
Last week , the boy had a dream that he was being attacked by a dog, and as he was vigorously trying to fight off the animal in his sleep, his arm swung right into my face and *pow* – it was a cheek meet hand situation. I woke up in a total fluster in the middle of the night thinking WTH????. To make it worse he woke up all groggy saying “Huhhhh? hmm So sorryy babbyyy, i thought you were dog!“. Umm you thought your wife is a dog? That is supposed to make me feel better??? What did make me feel better was the extra pampering the next day- a few scoops of ice cream, nice dinner and a trip to the Mac store which made me go all ‘Ooohhh shinnyy’ at the Apres Chic Collection!
Mac Mineralize Lip Balm in Pure & Tender is part of that Apres Chic collection and is a soft, peachy nude . In the tube it looks gorgeous like a beautiful peach with shimmer but its pretty much colourless on the lips so all you get is subtle glossiness . The Lip balm is super hydrating, as well as long lasting on the lips so those who need intense moisture will definitely like these.
Me? I have a few bones to pick with this one. First of all, i don’t know whether i got a defected piece or the sample was bad but i had to put the force of a 100 elephants to get the balm to squeeze out. It’s so tight and hard inside that tube that i literally was going all “SQUUUEEZZZEEEEE” and a tiny little ‘blip‘ would come out. Secondly, it has a really thick texture which would be great for winter time chapped lips i guess but those of you who dont like that gloopy feeling on the lips will really not like heavy gloopy feeling this tends to give. Definitely weighs down and feels heavy so not for me for summer!
Pros of Mac Mineralise Tinted Lip Balm
- Intensely Moisturizing
- Soothes Dry Lips
- Long Lasting
- Imparts a soft sheen
Cons of Mac Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm
- Very thick and heavy texture feels uncomfortable on the lips
- Takes a tremendous amount of pressure to squeeze anything out of the tube!
Recommendation: The Mac Mineralize Lip Balm in Pure & Tender is mostly a clear balm with a hint of peach. While it is super hydrating and lasts long, the extremely thick & heavy texture made me get that gloopy feeling in the summer. Moreover, it is really not easy to use as you have to really really press very hard on the tube to get any product out. I say skip this and go for the other gorgeous products from Apres Chic!
