Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter In Pink Truffle: Swatches & Review

Guest Review By Marianne

It happens sometimes that a certain product catches our eye for no explicable reason, and you just HAVE to have it. It was like that for me with the Revlon Colorburst lip butter in Pink Truffle. Out of all the tempting shades (with equally tempting names), Pink Truffle was the one I wanted right from the time I first saw these lip butters. Apart from the name (pink and truffles…two of my favourite things!), it looked like a lovely pinkish brownish shade…right up my alley!

The Revlon India website says: Pampering gel formula glides on lips buttery smooth and  hydrates lips.  94% of women saw a difference in their lip moisturization. Medium coverage color with a high shine finish. Mango Butter, Shea Butter and Coconut Butter naturally boosts lip moisture. Gives balmlike feel to lips, making lips feel soothed, ampered, and conditioned. Naturally fragrant with Vanilla Absolute.

My Views

These lippie-balm-gloss hybrids are a real treat to apply. They simply glide on the lips, giving sheer colour in one swipe which can be built up to an extent by layering. The finish is a lovely glossy sheen which makes lips look fuller and more luscious. I don’t have dry or chapped lips so I can’t comment on its healing properties but from what I can make out, those with dry lips will love this.

The shade Pink Truffle is a beautiful rosy brown. It is very, very close to my natural lip colour and so I have to swipe it on a few times to make it show up. It gives a very polished look and is absolutely work-appropriate too. This shade will suit all skin tones. The arm and lip swatches are multiple swipes.

The downside is the staying power – I get around two and a half hours max before the colour fades away (maybe because this one is a neutral shade; I’m guessing the brighter ones will last longer). The balm-like feeling lasts for another hour or so, provided you don’t eat anything much – this can survive a drink (with noticeable transferring), but vanishes without a trace with heavier meals! The quantity is, I feel, too little, especially given the price at which this is sold. I could literally see the lip butter getting smaller after just a few uses! The vanilla fragrance is unnoticeable until you sniff at the tube.

The Revlon lip butters are packaged with colour-coded caps with the characteristic Colorburst quilted pattern and the shade name written at the bottom. A convenient packaging, but sometimes I feel the cap shuts in place a bit too tightly and then it’s a tug of war to open it. The product inside also tends to melt in the heat and gets smeared on the sides and rim of the tube.

Rating: A-

Price: INR 600

Recommendation: Though a little pricey, the Revlon lip butters are excellent and pretty much live up to their claims. Get these if you don’t mind touching up every few hours. Pink Truffle is a classy neutral shade and will suit all skin tones. A great pick especially for duskier skin tones, this one won’t wash you out.

The shade selection of these lip butters is a bit overwhelming. I never know which to choose and have come back empty handed a couple of times! This definitely is my type of shade, pinky brown. Making a mental note to check this one out soon :)
