Lakme 9 to 5 Roseate Motive (3) Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick In Roseate Motive: Swatches & Review

Guest Review By Priya R

I feel like i just came back from “candy land” and  I am not  even a candy lover!!!  I am actually talking about the newly launched Lakme 9 to 5 Lipsticks which are no less than candies to a fat kid !!!!. They have more than 30 shades (irrespective of 12-13 shades shown on Lakme’s site) & that rose gold packaging is totally drool worthy! Plus all these shades are so pretty that I had really hard time choosing one. I picked up the shade Roseate Motive.

Product Description: Combines amazing comfort with staying power that keeps you looking fresh for hours. With a long-wearing comfort technology. Offers a creamy color with Colorfix technology. Ensures 10 hours of intense crème color.

My Views:

Love the rose gold bullet, it sits elegantly on my dressing but that’s the only good about the bullet. It shuts too tightly and everytime I have to apply force to open it. I am not sure if it’s a faulty mechanism with my piece or that’s just how they are built but I wish it was easier to open. The price is definitely not on the higher side but still from a brand like Lakme you don’t expect flimsy bullets!

Moving onto the shade, Roseate Motive, I had a tough time picking it up. I actually went in the store pre-researched on the color I wanted, Oak Table was my choice, but that was OOS both times  I visited. Thereafter, any color I swatched I fell in love,  they are so tempting! Roseate Motive is actually a peachy brown shade with a touch of pink when you apply it on the lips. It is nicely pigmented, and a single swipe gives a stain like look. It is easily buildable but to an extent only, after all it aims at office time wear, where generally really bold lips are a strict no-no.

Roseate Motive has silver flecks, as many of the shades in this range have, which actually look quite  pretty. These flecks disperse on application – barely there kinds & are mostly visible in heavy lightening.

On application, it feels very creamy & soft textured and glides on easily but after a few minutes the texture changes to a somewhat powder-y. Matte finish lipsticks are my favourite but I have never experienced the powder-y feel.

It claims to last for 10 hours, which is not entirely true. I get a wear time of about 3-4 hours with meals and it leaves a stain thereafter. But if you are not sipping much coffee during working hours then it lasts easily for 6-7 hours. One thing I wish Lakme had done was to make the lipstick bullets somewhat pointed rather than round for easy application, it spreads around the mouth area which compels me to use a lip brush!

Lakme 9 to 5 Roseate Motive (2)

Pros:

  1. Huge selection of shades to choose from
  2. Classy & Elegant rose gold bullet packaging
  3. Lasts for longer hours
  4. Roseate Motive is a beautiful everyday soft pink color
  5. Creamy texture on application
  6. Contains silver flecks which I like

Cons:

  1. The bullet feels a little jammed
  2. The texture though creamy initially, feels a little powdery after few mins
  3. The round lipstick bullet makes it little difficult to apply within the lips line

Rating: A-

Price: Rs. 400

Recommendation: Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Roseate Wine is a beautiful soft rose-y peach color with silver flecks which will suit most skin tones. For the price, I think a little powdery feel it gives & the jammed bullet can be overlooked. I was sold  solely on the rose gold colored packaging & huge selection of shades it offers.

All shades in this range seem to be pinky browns. I do agree that lakme did good with the packaging :)

Hey Mehak! I looooooovvvveeee reading your blog!! And the way you begin every post with little story/intro is nothing short of amazing!

i’d just like to put in this one suggestion to you…that when doing lip swatches it would be really nice to include a full face picture..that makes us understand the shade of lipstick better….though you generally do that…but sometimes with posts like this one, i really wish a full face shot would have been included..same with eye makeup etc.

Pretty swatch! I like the shade range of 9to5 collection but the shimmer is a big let down for me :(

I had a very bad experience with lakme products which is history but I promised myself to never get anything from Lakme. But this color is so gorgeous and I am in a dilemma as to whether I should try this or not.
