MUA Lip Bloom In Cheeky: Swatches & Review
Guest Review By Lee (Light Skin Tone, NC 35, Combination Skin)
MUA Lip Booms were the first things that ‘hit’ and fascinated me when I explored their sites. Lipsticks with lipgloss seemed the most natural thing in the world and I instantly ordered it. Sadly this was one purchase I regret buying. Read on to find out why.
Product Description: Lipstick and highlighting gloss that creates fuller curvaceous lips for a dramatic illusion of volume. There are 4 amazing ways to transform your lips and give them some Boom!
1. Lipstick alone for a matte look.
2. Lipstick with highlighter applied just to the centre of your lips to create a full volume illusion.
3. Lipstick with highlighter all over for a super-glossy look.
4. Highlighter alone for a sheer pearl finish.
The MUA lip booms come in a long and black lipstick type packaging. One end contains the lipstick and the other the lip gloss tube and it comes with a small doe foot applicator. It has a small little pot in the end which is the exact color of the lipstick which eases identification. The packaging is certainly very intelligent and handy but that’s where the good things end about this product.
Cheeky is a pale, ugly, most unflattering milky lavender pink with strong blue undertones. Oh Boy! I don’t think I’ve ever used so many adjectives to diss err describe a shade before. It wont suit anyone unless you’re super pale. It’s a shade totally apt for Halloween’s when you want to look all scary or sick (take ur pick!) :P The gloss is a sheer pink shade with chunky pink glitter yep glitter not shimmer. The glitter travels all over the mouth area if you eat something.
The texture of the lipstick is powdery matte but does not tug during application. The finish is very patchy and settles into the dry patches and fine lines. I also hate the texture of the gloss because of the chunky glitter however it is non sticky.
The lipstick is nicely pigmented and gives an opaque finish in 2 swipes. It lasts for about 2 hours or so and a little more when topped with a gloss. It does survive small snacks and drinks but not a full meal. The lip booms are certainly super cheap but what’s the use if the quality is absolutely crap! I have two more shades from this range(OMG! & OK.com) and I hate it just as much!
I wont be summarizing the review in pros and cons as there is not one thing I like about the product. It was an absolute fail and I’ll strongly suggest giving these not so booming lip booms a total miss!
Rating: D-(or should I just go with an F :p)
Final Recommendation: MUA Lip Booms are an absolute disaster. The range mostly comprises of pastel shades that aren’t very flattering. The texture is horrible and the gloss is even worse. Particularly with Cheeky, pit up only if you want to look sick or scare people away! p
