Loreal Paris Kajal Magique Review

We have all tried the insanely popular Lakme Eyeconic Kajal and the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. Have had intense debates about which one is better. Some of us switched sides, others remained true to their original choice. And now to give competition to the already existing battle of wills, or rather Kajals, has come the newly launched L’Oreal Kajal Magique which i bought from Nykaa .

Product Description: Get over ordinary kajals, L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique – the queen of kajals has arrived. Step into the spotlight and let your eyes do the talking.

Honestly, I was done with everyone going on and on about both the existing kajals and the minute I read about this launch, I was like, isn’t it enough that we cannot choose between two, you have to give us one more. But being the kajal hoarder, I had to go and get it the minute I saw it. Actually grocery shopping got me this, talk about Luck by Chance.

Packaging: The L’Oreal kajal Magique comes in a hot pink and black colored packaging which looks so much better than either the Colossal or the Eyeconic. It kind of reminds me of the L’Oreal Fall Repair range. It has the same Black and Pink Packaging combination.
It is also a retractable kajal like its competitors and has 0.35 grams of product.

Pigmentation and Wear Time: I would not call this the blackest of blacks, but it is very black. I compared the Colossal kajal, which till date was the blackest I used, and the L’Oreal Kajal Magique, I found them to have the same pigmentation and staying power
The Kajal Magique stays on my waterline for a good 5-6 hours after which it starts to fade but doesn’t completely disappear.
When used as a Liner on my upper lash line, it stayed for about 6-8 hours. But I do have very oily eye lids and this one transferred onto my socket line which made me hate this.

The Kajal is pretty creamy and does not tug while applying it. In my opinion, its slightly creamier than the Colossal kajal, but I might not be the best judge of this.

I tried the smudge test and I must say I was extremely impressed. The kajal just did not want to leave my hand even after bath the next day.

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique:

  • Amazing pigmentation and creamy- product at a very reasonable price
  • Travel friendly.
  • Retractable kajal, so no wastage of product during sharpening.
  • Does not tug while application
  • Stays on for a wonderfully long time on the waterline.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique:

  • Does transfer  a little bit on oily lids
  • One of the most expensive smudge-proof, water-proof, long staying kajal on the market right now.

Rating: A

Price: Rs. 245 from Nykaa

Overall Recommendation: Out of the three available Kajals in this category, without a doubt the L’Oreal Kajal Magique is my favorite. I see it giving a lot of competition to the other two and it’s a must buy for those finding even a little fault with the others because, unlike the others, the L’Oreal Kajal Magique is definitely a tad more worth it.

I also reviewed it…… and I am totally agree with you…… it has creamy texture so glide smoothly…… Is fun to see whether girls stay with their loyal kajals or switch the side…..? I love your eye swatch….. looks nice on you…..love.

WOW Rmyah…

lovely EOTD. U have such beautiful eyes. There are so many mixed reviews and responses to the kajal that now I am quite confused. But may try this once my eyeconic is over.

This is an amazing product. But sorry to say, it’s nit the most expensive one in the market. I feel Sisley is most expensive at 2900 INR.

I find it creamy when swatched on hand but somehow it is bit drying for my lower water line. It is perfect for tight lining though. I hope I am not the only weirdo who uses two different kajals for upper and lower water line.

Btw my doctor suggested to use a kajal which requires sharpening than retractable one. You get fresh product each time you sharpen and it reduces the risk of contamination. I hope this tip helps you sensitive eye girls.

Supria December 17, 2013 at 3:21 pm

I wanna apply kajal like that!!! I can never get it right, I end up looking like a racoon :(

Rmyah December 17, 2013 at 4:31 pm

I used to too Supria, all you can do is practice, practice, practice….maybe I can do a tutorial for you one day ;)
