EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm In Pomegranate Raspberry Review (5) EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm In Pomegranate Raspberry Review

So I should probably start the post with a pouty Kim Kadarshianesque selfie with the balm, but I shall spare you the horror. I admit it, I first heard, actually saw these on Ms Kadarshian’s twitter. I automatically deducted that they cost a bomb – but they are actually decently priced. I am a sucker for cute packaging and I knew I had to own one of these lovelies. I own five lip balms already, but what the heck?

EOS Says: “eos lip balm in Pomegranate Raspberry is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.”

The balm is housed in a soft crazy ball type egg. It has an indentation on the side for easier grip and almost looks like a kid’s toy. It comes in seven regular flavours and occasionally some limited editions ones. I love it because it’s hygienic to use as you don’t have to dip your finger in – perfect for office. The best part about the product is not it’s cute yet practical packaging – it is very natural. The balm is  USDA approved, it has shea butter in it and it is paraben, gluten and petrolatum free!

Now you have to know something before I start talking about what it really does. My lips are like the Thar desert. I can bathe in lip balm but they always look parched and dead. I can pull off the street urchin look with pizzazz. So, when I say that EOS keeps you hydrated, damn girls, it really does. It has a balmy feel (balmy, not waxy) to it and you do feel like you have something on your lips, but quite frankly, I like that from my lip balms. This is not your balm to use while layering on lipstick. It’s not terribly moisturizing but I like the fact that two uses each day keeps me going. They do make my lips soft and supple. If I plan to wear lipstick the next day, I just swipe it one before sleeping and my lips feel good as new!

About the flavour – I honestly could never smell the pomegranate or the raspberry but that can be because my olfactory senses are next to nil. I don’t mind it as it doesn’t smell foul. The balm is clear, and I really like that part. If I don’t have a mirror, I can still swipe it and not feel conscious.

I would definitely buy it again and again – ofcourse ignoring my stash of other lip balms. They make great gifts – cheap, cute, organic and a celebrity value attached to it.

Other flavours:

  • Strawberry Sorbet
  • Summer Fruit
  • Sweet Mint
  • Honeysuckle Honeydew
  • Medicated Tangerine
  • Lemon Drop with SPF 15

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this product! Where did you get it from? Couldn’t find it in India.

I like cute and practical packaging and the fact that its clear so that i can use it on my matte lipsticks!
Nice review:)

Apurva Desai January 18, 2014 at 6:12 am

Well yes Shivi, that sounds like a good idea. I have tried it sometimes and I don’t like my lipstick getting onto my balm so I dont use it. It most definitely works though :)

EOS lipbalms look adorable! I’ve been wanting to try them, and found them on a couple of sites that ship worldwide. But I can’t get myself to pay those international shipping charges for a lip balm :P
