MAC Pressed Blot Powder Review
There is one multi-tasking super hero in my Vanity Box that is pretty much indispensable ! Whether I need to control the oil during hot summer days, or I want my makeup to last longer, whether I want to just give that finished polished look to my face or just keep my makeup intact – the Mac Blot Pressed Powder in Medium shade comes to my rescue !
What MAC has to say about it? A unique pressed powder designed primarily to provide shine control without adding any noticeable colour or texture. Sets foundation, finishes faces. For use in professional situations and for frequent touch-ups. Blot Powder contains Mica and Silica to absorb excess oils and reduce shine on the skin’s surface. Can be applied with the puff that comes in the compact or with a powder brush like #129 Powder/Blush Brush. Perfect for touching up Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation throughout the day.
Available in 5 shades: Dark, Deep Dark, Dark Medium, Medium (Shade being reviewed here), Light.
Packaging: The product comes in signature black MAC compact case which is sturdy and travel friendly. The case is provided with a round inbuilt mirror and a slightly ribbed puff applicator inside.
My Experience with the product:
The texture of the face powder is soft and buttery smooth as the powder is very finely milled. It glides like a breeze on the face and blends effortlessly.
The powder is quite sheer and does not provide any significant coverage, so if you are looking for a compact with solid coverage, you can give this a miss. After application it sets to an oil free, matte and soft finish and stay put for 4-5 hours after which my T-zone starts appearing shiny. Hence I need to re-apply it for a fresh and neat look, however I have experienced that even after re-applying it twice I never feel that cakey or heavy feeling, this product is really light and gives a very natural looking feel. I generally use my Clinique Superbalanced Foundation and top it with this compact- and the result is always awesome- a flawless and pulled together look which stays put for 4-5 hours easily.
Pros of Mac Blot Powder:
- Classy and travel friendly packaging
- Applicator puff and mirror provided.
- Finely milled texture which glides and blends in like a dream
- Sets to a soft matte finish
- Very light never feel heavy on face
- Looks natural.
- 12 gms of product lasts long.
Cons of Mac Blot Powder:
- Tad expensive.
- Provides no coverage.
- Stay put for maximum 4-5 hours, after that you need to re-apply it.
Recommendation:For a pulled together, shine-free and matte look the Mac Pressed Blot Powder is a sure fire winner. However if you are on the look0ut for something that adds coverage, you shall be dissapointed as this is a sheer powder !
