Makeup Products That Bridal Makeup Artists Swear By !

by Mehak Shahani on January 14, 2014

in Bridal Blog, Bridal Makeup

I Spoke to Chandni Singh and Komal Gulati- two of Delhi’s favourite Bridal Makeup Artists and we got talking about the products these professionals love and use !! It’s always helpful to hear recommendations from the horses mouth (Sorry for calling you guys horses ;) ) so we can take a leaf or two (or in this case, a lipstick or two) from their book !

Whats your favourite Foundation- to give that gorgeous, flawless look?

Chandni : I love the Lancome Tient Idole Ultra & Chanel Vita Lumiere. The former works well for oily skin and extreme summer seasons. I use the later mostly for women who prefer a sheer feel. They don’t oxidise and last long.

Komal: I  Mostly do airbrush foundation.I use Kett products for the same,as they are silicone free.It gives full coverage,is light weight, looks natural in person and in photographs.Highly beneficial for the brides,as it lasts all day and is water resistant.Last but least it is also hypoallergenic and sanitary to use.Apart from airbrush, love Makeup Forever HD Liquid foundation. It blends into the skin very smoothly, oil free and gives medium to full coverage.

Me: Im not Delhi’s fav makeup artist but thought i would throw in my two cents. I obviously love my Mac Face & Body & My Bobbi Brown Foundation, but definitely am going to try the Makeup Forever and Lancome one on their recommendation. I think their answers shed some good light on foundations that photograph well since these guys apply these on brides who are always in the spotlight !

Thanks guys !! Since everyone wants to know about the best lipsticks- what are some of your favourite and most commonly used ones?

Chandni : MAC Ruby woo (Retro Red), MAC Creme de la femme (Dusty Pearly Pink) , MAC Girl about town (Fuschia Pink), Chanel shade 38  (Soft Red) are some of my favourite lip colors for Indian skin

Komal: My favourite lip colour is Vintage by Christian Dior.I generally use Mac lip colours on clients as they are easily available and clients can procure the same colour for touch ups.Russian Red and Ruby Woo from Mac are a hit in Red category. On the coral front,Lady Danger,Vegas Volt,Ravishing, See sheer are most commonly used.Impassioned ( mix of coral and pink) is the new IT colour.Girl About Town,Chatter Box,Pink Plaid of Mac are still favourite amongst the clients.

Me: Since we are all talking about bright lipsticks, ill list my bright lipsticks. Bobbi Brown Pink Lily hands down is the best, hot pink lipstick for my skin tone iv tried! Apart from that im a neutrals girl !

PS: You can see swatches of most of the lipsticks they have mentioned in my post: 55 Mac Lipsticks Swatches

Im actually building my Eyeshadow collection. Would be helpful to know what are some of your favourite eyeshadows when it comes to doing makeup? Im sure there are some colors you turn to more than the others

Chandni Singh:  Every girl needs a good gold eyeshadow- so MAC Woodwinked is a great option ( Editors Note: FYI- Guys, this one is a must have specially if you are a shadow virgin. You dont even need any complicated crease color or anything with this. One sweep and automatically it looks like you have got your shadow done professionally).  So is MAC Club  and  MAC Deep truth

Komal :  Lots of Indian garments are embellished with gold work, therefore gold eyeshadow is a must have for every Indian girl. One can choose from Mac’s Amber Lights,Goldmine,Gorgeous Gold or Melon pigment. Brown -Being a neutral colour ,one can never go wrong when wearing this shade.Depending upon the undertone, choose from Mac’s Satin Taupe,Twinks,Mulch,Bronze, follie and wood winked. Pink – Pinks add a freshness to the face.Mac’s Swish,Sushi Flower,Passionate is ideal for nude look, while Expensive Pink,Cranberry and Sketch are ideal for creating medium to smokey effect. Peach – Works great with people who have warm undertones.Mac’s Gleam,Paradisco,Free To Be are great for nude look, while Antiqued and Coppering is perfect for bridal makeup look.

Me: Bronze, Expensive Pink and Woodwinked are my holy trio of eyeshadows ! But im going to get my hands  on Mac Deep Truth (dark blue)  as well as Antiqued  !

PS: You can see swatches of most eyeshadows mentioned in my post: 38 Mac eyeshadows Swatches

And to finish the look, what blushes would you guys suggest?

Chandni: MAC Style, MAC Peechykeen

Komal:  I am a great fan of Bronzers. It gives a healthy glow to the skin, light tone of it,if applied properly ,looks natural.I use deepertone to contour the face.

Me: Honestly this discussion has re-ignited my love for Mac. Im going to go rush to the store to go and get some of these !!!

For sure I would love to see such post. With so many brands and huge makeup range available in market most of time I get confused at the store. When you have selected items on the list its easier to choose and decide.

Omg same with me, all the mattE lipsticks from mac do that on me. My lips become unbearable within 2 minutes of swiping it on.

Kalyani January 15, 2014 at 5:58 am

Glad to know I’m not alone in wondering that. :) Compared it to swatches and it looks like Dior Addict Vintage. But the it seems much more than the other pictures I’ve seen, so I’m not sure.

Kalyani January 15, 2014 at 7:42 pm

nm, it’s pink plaid app. :)

Rashmi January 18, 2014 at 8:51 am

And here I was planning to post the exact same question !!! So is it Dior Vintage ?? sure looks like one .. I love it but then again I have my doubts about this working on Indian skin tones .. and sadly there are not many reviews of this lippy online too..
So is it Dior vintage ???

The matte rose-mauvey lip colour on the picture, center bottom? I so badly want it rt now! It started out slow, a year ago I bought a sugar fresh lip balm in the colour petal… Without knowing where it would lead. But that picture seems to have kicked this off. Where is the nearest Mac?
