Clarins Beauty Flash Balm Review (2) Clarins Beauty Flash Balm Review

Over a long, leisurely lunch one particular Friday, a super chic French colleague spilled the beans on the reason for her radiant complexion (She said its like a miracle in a tube!). And it turned out to be none other than, Lisa Eldridge recommended, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Since I am forever searching for effortlessly happy, bouncy, and lively skin, it wasn’t long before I popped by the French beauty brand’s counter and picked up this legendary product.

What Clarins says about the Beauty Flash Balm:

What it is: A balm that instantly moisturizes, brightens, and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed.

What it is formulated to do: The ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin, this radiance-making product helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash. A great 10-minute “energy” mask, its non-oily formula prepares skin for perfect makeup application and hours of luminous wear.

What else you need to know: Formulated with olive extract, this ingredient helps to smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Bisabolol soothes, softens, and helps restore skin’s youthful glow. Clarins’ most popular radiance booster, this product is sold once every 20 minutes worldwide. It is allergy-tested and non-comedogenic.

Suggested Usage: After cleansing and toning, apply a thin layer to face and neck.
Do not rub. Follow with foundation, if desired. Apply a thick layer, 2-3 times a week as a 10-minute “energy” mask.

My experience with the product:

The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm comes in a tiny, slightly stout 50 ml tube. Packaging is classic Clarins with red lettering on a white base. The tube is handy so makes for a good travel companion or even in your day bag in case your skin needs a quick fix. It’s a pale peach color (which comes as a surprise), all my other Clarins products are transparent or white in color.

The consistency is lightweight but not runny. I was a bit intrigued by the usage instructions that explicitly said “do not rub”. So I first dotted the product over my face and then with gentle, sweeping motion blended in. Tried to be careful not to over do it J Voila, after 10 minutes, it definitely made me look brighter, more awake, refreshed and hydrated. My pores were less visible and the skin felt more ‘taut’. It doesn’t do much to even out skin tone (not meant for that), so you will need foundation / BB cream to take care of that. It gives you your skin back, but in a much much better avatar!

It is fairly expensive so I don’t use it as a mask as they recommend but mostly on days when I either want to look special or my skin is desperate for some TLC (tender loving care). It works well for my normal / dry combination skin (I can skip the moisturizer if I am using this), but it may exacerbate oiliness for oily skin people.

It does have a slightly powdery fragrance that is a bit strong at first, but disappears fast enough to be an issue.
