Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist in Rust Crush : Review & Swatches

in Lakme, Lip Products, lipgloss

Has anyone been outside in Delhi for more than 2 hours recently? Its weather to turn you into a   fried egg, and while I have been meandering through the lanes of Karol Bagh for Bridal Shopping (Seems fun, but in 45 degrees- not so much), I have tanned two shades darker than usual !  Which means a lot of colors I used to just lap up earlier, now almost seem like nudes on me !! Take Rust Crush for example…

Rust Crush is a purrty purrty peachy nude. In the tube, it looks like a beautiful papaya color but on the lips its much lighter so it ends up looking like a pretty peach-nude on me to be worn with smokey eyes.

Apart from this , these glosses are non sticky, lightweight and quite moisturizing. In terms of pigmentation- these are decently good, but with pigmented lips you may need to layer these on a tad bit. Plus with lighter colors like this one, they have a tendency to settle into lines but I didnt find the same problem with the darker or brighter colors.

Pros:

  • Moisturizing and comfortable to wear
  • Decently pigmented
  • Non sticky
  • Lasts about 4 hours on me, but I know some people find that these dont last that long
  • The color would be a nice peachy one on lighter skin tones and more of a nude on darker ones

Cons:

  • This color can settle into lines- its a problem with lighter colors anyway
  • Pigmented lips may find that they need an extra coat, but since these apply evenly i dont think thats a big deal.

Verdict: B

Price: Approx 700/-

Recommendation: I guess it ultimately comes down for value for money, and though these are really nice lipglosses, at 700 Rs i would expect  something even better than this. However if that is not a consideration- these are moisturizing, lightweight and decently pigmented but do have a tendency to settle into lines . Rust Crush is a peach-nude, which looks nice with heavier eyes on me (its lighter on the lips than in the tube)

I like the colour, looks good by itself. I like the darker shade in this range though. :)

Pretty colour, but somehow shelling out 700 odd quid for Lakme makes me feel I’m paying Kareena’s brand endorsement fees :-P

good shade for fair skin tones. Looks newer avatar for Lakme Aquashine – Coral. Which was priced around 400. They have increased prices a lot

The colour on the lips looks nothing like how it is in the tube. Would love to see your review on the other brighter colour :)

Personally i have never been too fond of glosses……it definitely is more nude than coral on lips…

Kolkata is also terribly hot :’(
The colour in the swatch looks so different from the one in the tube.
The colours would have looked really gorgeous if they had the same colour as in the tube..

The papaya color tube looks yummy but it looks light on your lips..I think I need to get the revlon papaya one only…have been lusting after this color for long
