The Best Red Lipstick for Indian Skin : P&B Beauty Banter

by Mehak Shahani on June 12, 2014

in Beauty Banter

Ananya asks ” Hey Mehak, I have always wanted to sport the winged eyeliner with red lipstick, but don’t seem to know which red lipsticks look good on Indian skin. So far, I think NONE ! Please ask suggestions from your readers. Im wheatish skintone, but in the winters I do tend towards lighter (but warm) skin”

Hi Ananya…My favourite is Scarlet Ibis , because I prefer reds that are more orange based rather than pink based. But apart from that do try out Ruby Woo from Mac, and Lincoln Rose from L’oreal.

Inglot shade no 82 is medium red which is pinkish red and will suit medium skin tones. Also Colorbar hearts & tarts is a good red option. Both of them are from budget range so will not hurt your pocket.

Pleasure Me Red #547 from Maybelline Colorsensational is a great, affordable red lipstick.

For those who are interested, I have done a review of the same on my YouTube channel here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czY5sdVThTI

I go with Candy Apple from Revlon Lipbutter range every time. Granted its lip gloss rather than lipstick. But it sure beats most red lipsticks.

Ankita June 12, 2014 at 3:15 pm

Colourbar’s “Hearts and tarts” which also called as “Sweetheart” is a great shade for awsuuum red lips…

It has to be Russian Red. but there is deborah Atomic Red Mat #5 also which is creamy n I think suits most of the indian skin tones.

Maybelline 14 hr Non Stop Red is my go to red (very drying ofcourse) followed by Loreal Moist Matte Lincoln Rose and even Lady Danger from MAC sometimes. Even Colorbar matte in Hearts and Tarts is a good choice.

Russian Red seems to be a fav..must try next.

Lincoln Rose from L’oreal is soooo pretty, it suits Indian complexions so well but to be honest it is not a true red at all. it has pink undertones and It is rightly named rose and it is more of a rose than a red.

I would reccomend Colorbar Velvet Matte in hothothot , it is a beautiful and affordable matte red lipstick

and L’oreal shine caresse lipgloss in juliette has orange undertones and is a pretty, bold yet wearable red.
Apart from that, Flormar lipstick in shade R11 is a beautiful deep red with orange undertones that suits Indian skintones to the tee,you can read the review on my blog if you like :)

Maybelline On Fire Red is great. I don’t know if India has gotten the Revlon Lacquer Balms yet, but I love Enticing. If you can get your hands on NARS, I like Red Lizard, Shanghai Empress, and the new Satin Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. Also, Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet.

Lakme 9-5 Red coat, and MAC Ruby Woo areon top of my list. Lakme 9-5 Cherry Chic is also another option .. but it is more rust than red and has yellow undertones. Suits my NC 43 skin very well… + is long stay …

Revlon Colorburst Crimson! It’s a beautiful red that looks gorgeous on all skintones, fairly long-lasting and very comfortable on lips.

loreal juliette and mac ruboo woo definetely… even mac russian red is nice

I’m currently loving the Revlon kissable balm stain ‘Romantic’ which is a sheer red … pretty and not in your face at all. And it’s buildable to a deeper finish as well. LOVE it!
Apart from that, MAC Spice is up in luster finish is a good option, but according to me its a slightly mature color leaning a little toward maroon.
I am more of a lipgloss girl and I can recommend some gorgeous red lip-glosses. Shades pop6 and glam12 from the Maybelline lip polish range, and Revlon Colorburst lipgloss ‘Fire’ are all lovely and superbly pigmented red lipglosses.
Hope it helps!
