10 Best Sunscreens in India for Summer :For Oily Skin & Dry Skin!

in Reviews, Skincare

I am married to probably the most non- metrosexual guy on the planet. Like literally, I don’t think he even owns a face wash , or knows he is supposed to use it everyday.  But if there is one thing I force on to him , it is sunscreen . So between the two of us there is a whole lot of sunscreen that is consumed in our house. Here are my favourite top 10 picks

In no particular order

#1 Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 50: I swear by this sunscreen on trips. On my bachelorette trip to Goa, not only did I tan significantly lesser as compared to my friends, this one became a crowd favourite with everyone on the trip (My trip was two months before my wedding So i couldn’t afford to get super tanned, and I almost hogged this sunscreen without sharing it :p , something Im still hearing about from my friends) . Does have a shine to it and leaves your face a bit too dewy for many people , but Im not so fussed as long as it protects. Read full review

Best suited for: All skin types

Price: Rs 500 for approx 90 ml

#2  Kiehls Sunscreen: With an SPF of 50 and UVA/ UVB protection this one does a good job and also doesn’t feel thick and greasy on the skin. Its a tad bit drying infact so I am sure those with oily skin would like using this. This is currently my staple as I have run out of the Neutrogena one and this is all I had lying around, but Im super liking it so far. Only thing- it is super super expensive so burns a hole in the pocket.

Best suited for : Oily/ Normal skin

Price: Approx 2500 for 30 ml

#3  Vichy Capital Soleil Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid : While the fluid is ultra light, and the sunscreen is non greasy,  if you have very oily skin this may make your face appear a tad bit shiney so I recommend you use this with powder.  However this one has super protection and prevents tanning and burning. My friends skin burns in 5 minutes and she loves this !  I personally also love using this because it hydrates my skin and protects it, ensuring that I don’t tan.

Best suited for: Normal/ Dry skin

Price: 690 Rs

#4  Ansolar Daily Use skin gel creme SPF 30: One of the ones docs recommend and  in general a very good one specially for oily skin. Is quite light weight, and water resistant and the gel texture is kind of cooling. Read full review here

Best suited for: All skin types, specially Oily skin

Price: Rs 650 for approx 60gms

#5  Seba Med Sunscreen : For girls with sensitive skin, prone to breakouts the Sebamed sunscreen is a great option as it is mild, provides protection and doesn’t feel ultra heavy on the skin. ! Its usually dermatologist recommended , though on the pricey side

Best suited for: Sensitive skin

Price: 1500 Rs for 150 ml

#6 Lotus Matte Look 3 in 1 Sunscreen : I am not a massive fan of Lotus sunblocks but the Matte look sunscreen does provide good coverage and prevents tanning. I find the texture a bit on the thicker side but apart from that this is a solid option without breaking the bank too much and for oily girls specially this seems to be the one sunscreen that really mattifies their skin

Best suited for: Oily skin will enjoy, works for dry skin too

Price: Rs 225 for 50 gm

#7 Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel SPF 20: My only problem with this is the low SPF, but apart from that the gel formula is really nice . It is lightweight, and non greasy yet still mildly hydrating – however It doesn’t protect as much from tanning as I wish it would. Wish SPF were a bit higher, but if you dont tan easily you can definitely try this

 Price: Rs 320 for 100ml

#8. Loreal UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF 50 Moisturizer: Loreal doesn’t market it as a sunscreen but it has SPF 50 and UVA and UVB protection so yay ! This is my everyday, holy grail tinted moisturizer and this ensures I dont need sunscreen over my moisturizer. It hydrated, feels light, evens out my skin…my only problem is that the protection it gives isnt as good as the protection Neutrogena gives ! Read full review

Best suited for: Dry skin will absolutely love this , and this works for Oily skin too

Price: Rs 450 approx

#9 Sunmate SPF 30 Gel Creme (Palsons Drugs): Another dermatologist recommended sunscreen and one that oily skin girls will absolutely love because this has an almost powdery, matte finish that feels light and doesn’t make your face shiney. Girls like me who have dry skin definitely need to moisturize before using this though but overall a good buy !

Best suited for: Oily skin

Price: Rs 320 for 30 gms

I use SunCote SPF30 . . . I was an ultimate hater of sunscreens until I started using this. It has a gel like texture which is best for anyone who sweats buckets like me.

All my sunscreen issues have been solved by the newly released Clinique even better dark spot defense sunscreen. It is brilliant. An SPF of 45, it literally sinks into the skin and goes completely invisible and my oily skin has been thanking me for it!
