Last night was the Manish show at India Couture Week and it saw the rather good looking (ok VERY good looking Aditya Roy Kapoor) walk the ramp for him alongside cutie Alia Bhatt. Celeb talk aside, a lot of exquisite bridal drool in this one , but some of them were a tad OTT. Still love a Manish show though, wouldn’t miss one for the world (as wouldn’t others it seemed like from the insane rush at the hall).
The collection started with all gold ensembles with a lot of raw silk, mirror work and gota, but done in very modern silhouettes. It then moved into splashes of jewel tones in red and green and finally ended with the Bollywood pair walking down the ramp. While the lehengas were a bit too much for me, some of the anarkalis were exquisite and i loved the various tones of gold he used in raw silk. So pretty.
This was my favourite piece- so classy and elegant. Floor length anarkali
Overall, it was such a great experience and Manish actually came out before the show and said “Ensure Media is seated before everyone else and gave us a big smile”. Trust me, the amount of jostling you have to do at Fashion week, him saying that was super sweet. The setup was awesome too- there were candles everywhere and there were three different ramps- each of which had viewers on both sides.
Sometime before the start of the show there seemed to be a lot of commotion and I realised Huma Qureshi and Urmila Matondkar had descended for the show hence photogs were going crazy.
Yay moment: I cant tell you that feeling you get when you see a designated seat for you saying “Peaches & Blush” right next to Cosmopolitan and Mint. Its surreal. I clicked the picture of it but it was so dark inside you cant tell anything. Oh well.
