??????????????????????????????? Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder Review

I was really curious to try the Rimmel stay matte pressed powder to see what the hype surrounding it was all about, ever since it has been launched its been on peoples favourite lists forever!

Product Description: Control shine for up to five hours with this matte finish powder by Rimmel. Up to 5 hours natural shine control with natural minerals. Helps minimize the appearance of pores. Dermatologically tested.

My Review

I have it in the shade silky beige which is a tad bit lighter for my skin tone but I mainly use it as a setting powder for a light application, it adapts to my skin tone well without giving any whitish cast. One thing I did notice is that mostly all the shades have pink undertones to it, which may not work well for someone who has extremely yellow undertones like most Indian skin tones.

The texture is quite smooth and soft . It’s not at all hard or chalky and blends like a dream and hardly has any fallout. The powder has a very sheer coverage which works perfectly for setting foundations and bb creams in place. It is very finely milled and gives a semi matte finish to my skin and hence will work for normal to oily skin types easily. It instantly takes the excess shine from my face no matter how oily my skin is. During summers it kept my extremely oily skin matte for around 3 hours after which shine does show through especially on my t-zone.  I did expect it to fare better in oil control part though. For normal to dry skin types moisturizing beforehand is must or else it will emphasize dryness.

One thing I really like about it, is that it does not cling to dry patches around my mouth and gives a smooth appearance overall. It feels very lightweight on skin and did not cause any breakouts which is always a plus for me.

It comes housed in a very basic packaging, in a beige colored round pan with a transparent lid. It is not very sturdy and needs to be handled with care since the cap can break easily, also the lid cannot be locked properly and it can pop out anytime, which makes it not at all travel friendly. There is no applicator or mirror provided as well and I prefer using it with a small kabuki brush. But seriously the product itself is really good and for the price it comes at I am not complaining :D

  • Smooth and soft texture
  • Blends easily without looking cakey
  • Takes way shine instantly and keeps me matte for a decent time
  • Works very well as a setting powder
  • Extremely affordable
  • There are many shades to choose from
  • Did not cause any breakouts

  • I wish oil control was better since it is a mattifying product
  • Packaging is not at all travel friendly and sturdy
  • All the shades are pink toned which may not work well for some skin tones

Rating: B+

Price: Rs 230 for a whopping 14 g!

Recommendation: Keeping packaging aside the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder is extremely good and certainly a must have if you have oily skin, I love the soft matte finish it gives to my skin. I highly recommend it if you have normal to oily skin and are looking for a good compact powder.
