Wet N’Wild Coloricon Flirting At The After Party Eyeshadow Palette: Swatches & Review
Wet N Wild is famous for its affordable and awesome eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks. I was initially hesitant to try out the brand; but once I started using some of its products, I have never looked back. The Wet N Wild eyeshadow palettes have a cult following and are known for their pigmentation and several Mac dupes. Yup, that is what attracted me to these palettes ;) Wet N Wild Flirting at The After Party eyeshadow palette is a recent launch in the Spring collection from the brand.
Color: Wet N Wild Flirting at The After Party eyeshadow palette is a palette dedicated out-and-out to the color purple. Well, who does not love purple?? ;) In spite of having like gazillions palettes, I still picked up this palette only for the lovely purple shades.
Left Hand Side Colors:
Browbone: Pale shimmery white with pink undertones.
Eyelid: A dull grey with purple undertones with slight shimmers.
Crease: Lavender with blue undertones.
Definer: Medium shimmery purple with grey undertones.
Right Hand Side Colors:
Browbone: Shimmery light pink.
Eyelid: Orchid (pinkish purple).
Crease: Shimmery purple.
Definer: Shimmery grey-ish purple. Very similar to Definer shade of LHS, but more purple.
Quality: This is where the palette fails miserably. The colors look so pretty in the pan, but the moment you swatch them you realize that it is not the same quality that the Wet N Wild is known for. The shades have very low pigmentation. Almost all the purple shades look alike on the eyes. Hence, it becomes so difficult to build a contrast in the eye look. Eventually all the colors end up looking muddy on the eye. Texture wise, the shades are a bit dry but not very powdery and have minimal fall out. They lack the buttery and smooth texture of previous palettes. The eyeshadows last for an average of 4-5 hours on my oily lids. The packaging is a cheap -looking white eyeshadow palette which comes with a dual-ended brush which can be used in a pinch. There are instructions at the back to create an eyeshadow look using all the shades.
- Beautiful assortment of purple color.
- Affordable palette.
- Ok for beginners to experiment with.
- No fall out.
- Average staying power.
- Lack of pigmentation.
- Dry texture.
- Difficult to create a contrasting eye look.
- Colors look muddy when blended.
- Cheap looking packaging.
- Unavailability in India.
Recommendation: You can definitely pass this palette. Nothing much to write about. Disappointing pigmentation and dry texture. However, if you are a purple fan and can only work with one color at a time from the palette, this is not a bad buy. For the price, you get some beautiful shades which can be made to look good. ;) The previous Wet n Wild Pallettes do have awesome quality so this one is different !
