Clinique Clarifying Lotion Type 3 Review
We all love such products that gives us a better look, a better skin and a better you. Those of us with oily skin always find skin concerns like excess oil/sebum production; open pores and blemishes a hurdle towards a fresh and clean look. When you find some products that claims to solve this concerns then no matter what we want to purchase that product. One such product is Clinique Clarifying Lotion Type 3, about which I have read several times before but don’t know why I never lay my hands upon it. It so happened that during my last visit to Delhi I found a full one page advertisement of Clarifying lotion in one of the in-flight magazine that I picked up to pass the journey time, I finally decided to purchase a bottle of this toner for myself.
Product Description: A gentle, oil-free exfoliating lotion for combination and oily skin. This second step in Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care System is a true difference-maker for great skin. Developed by Clinique’s dermatologists, the smoothing formula whisks away pore-clogging oil and flakes to reveal a clearer complexion. It helps control excess oil to minimize breakouts and keep skin feeling clean.
Claims: Helps clear away pollution, excess oil, dulling flakes for clear, glowing skin. Helps block a blemish. Purifies pores to look cleaner, smaller. Skin grows stronger, stays clearer, healthier. Dermatologist-reformulated to be comfortable, non-drying.
How to use?
- Using cotton ball, sweep over face and throat twice daily after cleansing with Facial Soap.
- For external use only. Avoid eye area.
- Follow with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion or Gel.
Ingredients: 2011 Reformulation: Water, Alcohol denat., Salicylic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Trehelose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, BHT, Phenoxyethanol, Benzophenone-4,Violet 2,Red 6, Orange 4.
Packaging: The toner comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a screw open green coloured cap. The bottle has a big mouth so you need to be extra careful while taking the product out or else you may waste the product.
My views on the product:
Although the name of the toner is “clarifying lotion” yet the consistency is runny- that of a liquid astringent, and the liquid is pink in colour. The first thing that I notice every time I open the bottle is a strong Alcoholic smell of the toner which is a big turn off for me as I am not at all a fan of strong smells. I use it every alternate day post washing my face in the night as I find it a bit drying may be due to the presence of Alcohol in it. Post applying it I feel a bit of a burning sensation for 1-2 minutes after which it feels normal. Although I use cleansing milk and then a face wash to clean my face, yet when I sweep my face with a cotton wool with this toner I always find some dirt and grime on the cotton wool ( I remember SA at the Clinique counter told me that it is not the impurity, but a layer of dead cells over the upper layer of skin- I don’t know how far it is true though). After applying the toner I feel a temporary reduction in the size of my open pores around nose and after some time it become normal again.
Pros of Clinique Clarifying Lotion Type 3:
- Deeply cleanses my skin.
- Said to remove dead skin layer.
- Temporarily reduces the size of pores.
- Every time I need a small amount to cover my face and neck.
Cons of Clinique Clarifying Lotion Type 3:
- Strong Alcohol smell.
- Big mouth of bottle which may result in product wastage.
- Gives a bit of burning sensation post usage.
- A strong toner.
Price: I don’t remember exactly, around Rs. 2200/- for 400 ml.of the product.
Recommendation: Although it is really early for me to recommend it to anybody, this is an average, decently performing toner. It doesnt really provide a permanent solution for me!
