Wella Wellastrate Professional Hair Straightener Strong Review
I had been planning to straighten my hair since last year and had been hunting for a good salon who could do it perfectly without burning a big hole in my pocket but when I came across this Wella Wellastrate Professional Hair Straightener last month in a beauty store I decided to do it at home (ofcourse with my some assistance). This wasn’t my first time straightening my hair, I first got it done in 2010 professionally and after that I did it myself in 2012 at home with Matrix Hair Straightening and was quite happy how it turned out. Though this is my first time using the Wellastrate and I am not highly impressed with results. First of all, I picked up the wrong kit, this one is meant for curly hair, my natural hair is wavy, thin & fragile so this wasn’t exactly suitable to my hair type.
The kit comes with a straightening cream which smells horrible! And a Neutralizer which was kind of bearable compared to the cream. Quantity of both the tubes was sufficient for my waist length hair. But in case you have thick hair you might need another kit. The process was fairly simple and I followed all the instructions to T as mentioned in the user guide.
Step 1: I applied Straightening Cream with a brush and a comb leaving about 1-2 inches area from the scalp, all over my second day hair and left it for 15 minutes. Then, I rinsed it with warm water. Ensure that you rinse it completely as it is a highly reactive product.
Step 2: After towel drying my hair I blow dried it, followed it by straightening my hair with a hair straightner. This step is not included in the user guide but I did it because that’s how the salon guy did it on my hair back in 2010.
Step 3: I applied the Neutralizer all over my hair in similar way I applied the Straightening cream. I left it for 15-20 minutes and this time I washed it with a mild shampoo using warm water. And you are done.
This is how my hair looked after the complete process. Though it looks straight but it looks very dry and seems not tied together, if that makes any sense. I see no shine at all. Overall, not happy with the results and my hair has gone through so much in the process.
- It did soften & straightened my hair to an extent.
- Easy to use kit.
- Available in different variants to suit different hair types
- It made my hair dull & dry
- No shine
- Creams smell horrible
- I did not give me desired result
- Straightening effect wont last for long
Price: Rs. 400
Recommendation: I think if you have really curly hair then Wella Wellastrate Professional Hair Straightener Strong might work for you. Overall, it didn’t work for my hair type and my hair though did straighten but it looked dull & dry. This product can be skipped in my opinion.
