My Review

I am always on the hunt of natural looking lip colors that don’t wash me out, so when I spotted this baby at the Chambor counter, I scooped it up in a jiffy.

Dessert Rose can be described as a very natural everyday sort of lip color. It is a muted neutral pink with just a touch of a brown undertone. For my medium skintone, it is a perfect nude because it has enough pigment  and does not look pale and washed out. You can throw this on everyday, for a soft lip or pair it with heavier eyes for a nude lip so this one is versatile and  I feel this will be a universally flattering color for all skin tones.

As the name suggests the lipstick is quite matte. The texture is slightly thick but smooth and glides easily without any tugging  . Initially it has creamy feel which soon settles down to a very matte finish and hardly transfers. It does not feel too uncomfortable or drying, but is not the best option for dry lips either! Prepping lips well beforehand is essential to get an even finish else it tends to accentuate fine lines on lips and gets patchy.

Pigmentation is good, though being a lighter shade two swipes are needed to get completely color payoff and opaque coverage.  It feels a bit heavy when more than two layers are applied due to the thick texture, so layering is not a good idea. It stays put for about 4 hours before it starts to fade from the center of the lips mainly leaving an outline which does not look good.

Pros:

  • Sleek packaging.
  • Very flattering everyday nude shade.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Glides smoothly.
  • Good lasting power.
  • Does not transfer much.
  • Has Spf 15

Cons:

  • Feels slightly heavy with layering.
  • Accentuate lines.
  • Fades from the center of lips.
  • Not for dry lips.

Rating: B+

Price Rs 599

Recommendation: The shade is definitely the highlight here, it’s a beautiful everyday color which will look good across all skin tones but the Powder matte lipstick range by Chambor does require a bit of prepping for smooth application otherwise it can accentuate dryness and fine lines.
