MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in All Fired Up Review
Hi ladies! Today I want to review a very bright fushia shade from the MAC retro matte collection.
Mac describes this as a bright fuchsia matte.
Since summers are coming on in full swing in Delhi, I like to wear mostly matte lipsticks and the MAC retro matte collection has a lot of bright colors apt for summers. Read on to find out if you should get this or not.
Packaging: The packaging is the usual one. The frosted black tube which we all are familiar with. It is difficult to identify shades with this type of packaging though.
Shade: Bright and Vivid shade of Fuchsia pink with warm undertones. This looks fantastic on my NC 42 skin tone. I love how fuchsia looks on medium skin tone and hence I picked this up. I usually wear this without any eye makeup and it gives a very polished look to my face. I think it will suit all skin tones. Do swatch them on the counter first though.
Texture: It is from retro matte collection so it is true matte. Although it falls in the same category as ruby woo but I found this one smoother than ruby woo. It is not that drying and doesn’t tug or pull on application. It does get drying after 3-4 hours but nothing a bit of lip balm can’t solve. Exfoliation is necessary before application or it might look flaky.
Staying power: The color lasted for almost 6-7 hours. I ate and drank in the middle and it faded a bit but left a stain. The stain looked pretty dark and you definitely need a makeup remover to remove this.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is amazing. It is opaque in one single swipe. Layering might make it patchy.
Fragrance: It has the sweet vanilla fragrance that I love. Nothing overpowering though.
- Superb pigmentation
- Pure matte texture
- Awesome staying power 6+ hours
- No bleeding
- Will suit all skin types
- No tugging while application
- Might be drying for dry lipped ladies
- Removal is a pain
Price: INR 1450
Recommendation: Although the shade is not very extraordinary but if you are looking or a warm fuchsia lipstick which is long lasting do give it a shot. Retro mattes are not neccessarily the most comfortable lipsticks to wear though!
