Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in Rubis Rouge: Swatches & Review
I don’t know what it is about graduating college that renews one’s enthusiasm in makeup because it certainly is not the fact that we are now “real adults”. I think it’s just the great combination of a general decrease in laziness and increase in fear as to life prospects. For little more than a year now, I have been traipsing about town wearing all the bright lipsticks I owned, but never bothered to wear. My mother has reacted with suitable horror, of course. Sigh. I hadn’t however, taken to wearing red in the daytime to her great relief, but that was really only because I couldn’t be bothered and didn’t own a suitable shade. Then, one day while watching Agent Carter doing her thing wearing a fantastic red lipstick in a show in which women only wear red lipstick, I had a sudden desire to wear red lipstick all the time, everywhere. A friend had been raving about Chambor Powder Matte in Rubis Rouge, so I bought it the next time I went to the mall and have I been wearing it all the time, everywhere or what? My mother, I think, will disown me now. Whatever. I have a fantastic new red lipstick to keep me company!
Chambor Says: An Innovative Formulated Lipstick which has both Moisturizer + Matte Effect in it. Powder Matte Lipsticks have a Non-Drying Triple Action Formula which:
- Hydrates – Vitamin A & Jojoba Oil
- Protects from the sun – UVA & UVB Filters (SPF – 15)
- Has anti-ageing formula which softens & smoothens the lips – Vitamin E
Colour: Rubis Rouge is a sunny, tomato red that remains in the neutral territory. It’s pretty pigmented like the others in the range and is good to go in two coats. The shade has a kind of diffused effect, which along with the finish gives it a cool, sophisticated, slightly retro character. It’s a really daytime friendly red, so if you’re the type who wear red to work, give this a try.
Texture: The lipstick is a matte with a powdery finish and texture. It applies fairly smoothly without tugging and doesn’t feel heavy on the lips. It’s not drying, but it definitely needs a little prepping with balm to be comfortable. It accentuates lines if played with too much.
Lasting Power: This particular shade lasts a good 4-5 hours without eating and only drinking. The biggest put-off was that it transfers really easily, so it has to be reapplied after eating. Please don’t wear this and go around kissing people (unless you’re feeling devious *wink wink*) It fades more from the middle than the ends and leaves a nice red tint.
Packaging: The packaging is a sturdy and pretty standard. It’s dark, navy blue and the lipstick has a bullet shape, which makes application easy.
